This occured a few more times so I stopped to inspect. I countinued my trip after not finding the source of the noise. When it occured again, I pulled into a parts store and had them run codes. After finding none I purchased a code scanner so that I could monitor while under way. Once on the highway the sound became more frequent, after just a few miles warning lights appeared on my dash and the vehicle had a complete loss of power. I was able to coast to the side of the road. At that time the vehicle did have code P1061. Dealer diagnosted the truck with a failed transmission. I removed the trasmission and disassembled it. The main shaft had been stripped of it's splines on the gear that connects to the engine. I have a video of the gears and shaft here: [XXX] I saved the parts and will be happy to provide them for investigation if needed. The brakes remain engaged for 1\u20132 seconds even after I begin releasing the clutch and applying throttle, which causes the car to stall or hesitate before moving. This creates a safety risk when pulling into traffic or when other vehicles are behind me on a hill. This issue has occurred at least four times within the first 1,000 miles of driving. It is easily reproducible on normal hills and happens under normal driving conditions. I have many years of experience driving manual transmission vehicles, including a 2019 GTI, and I have never experienced this kind of delayed brake\u2011release behavior on any other vehicle. The system\u2019s interference is abnormal and unexpected. There is no option in the vehicle settings to disable or adjust Hill Hold Assist, and many other 2023\u20132024 GTI manual owners report the same problem. This appears to be a calibration issue that results in unexpected stalls, hesitation, and delayed acceleration, creating a potential safety hazard.","equipment":false,"fire":false,"incidentDate":"2026-05-02T00:00:00Z","numberInjured":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"odiId":11738383,"receivedDate":"2026-05-17T00:00:00Z","stateAbbreviation":"OH","tire":false,"updateDate":"2026-05-18T17:43:18Z","vehicle":true,"vin":"WVWHA7CD7RW"},{"id":1945093,"artemisId":2629563,"childSeat":false,"city":"MARTINEZ","consumerLocation":"MARTINEZ, GA","crash":false,"description":"While driving at 60 mph, automatic braking feature activated slamming on brakes unexpectedly. Leased December 2025. My vehicle has been unusable since January 2026 following an accident because Volkswagen has been unable to supply a necessary replacement suspension strut required to complete repairs. The vehicle remains in a repair facility solely due to this part being on extended backorder. This is a critical suspension component that directly impacts vehicle safety and drivability. Despite repeated attempts to obtain updates, Volkswagen has failed to provide a clear timeline for when the part will be available. As a consumer, I am continuing to make payments on a new leased vehicle that I cannot use because the manufacturer cannot provide essential replacement parts within a reasonable timeframe. I believe this raises concerns regarding parts availability for safety-related vehicle components on new model vehicles. I am requesting that this issue be documented and reviewed.
