My A6 was out of warranty at that point, so Audi would not pay for the $6,186 in repairs.    Engine coolant purportedly leaks into the vacuum system and other electrical components, causing contamination of the vacuum system. Leaking coolant will cause an overheated engine and possible FAILURE of the (EA839)engine and even the turbocharger . Today I did some online research line research and discovered a class action lawsuit involving their 1.8 & 2.0 engine water pumps which failed prematurely for the same reason.  A major class-action settlement (Zhao v. Volkswagen Group of America) was approved covering certain 2014\u20132021 Audi vehicles equipped with 1.8L and 2.0L engines.      And now, there is a class action involving the 2.9 & 3.0 V6 engines; \u201cthe lawsuit alleges the water pumps are defective in Audi's 2.9-liter and 3.0-liter EA839 V-6s; these engines were available in nearly every Audi model on sale from the 2018 to 2024 model years. The lawsuit\u2014Larr, et al., v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., et al. \u2014has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey\u201d. Apparently, Audi has know about this issue since at least 2018 and done nothing to try and resolve it. Please put the pressure of the federal government on Audi to settle the lawsuit, DO THE RIGHT THING and cover the cost of repairs. Also find a solution to prevent this from happening to other Audi owners. I can\u2019t afford $6,186 for a repair, nor go purchase a different vehicle\u2026..Rock & a hard place. Please help. In late April 2026, in the morning, I was leaving YogaSource in [XXX] . As I approached my vehicle in the parking lot, an unstable individual was approaching the area near my car. I attempted to enter the vehicle quickly for safety, but the central locking system malfunctioned. As I tried to unlock and open the door, the vehicle appeared to lock again and the door would not open. I was temporarily locked out of the vehicle during a potentially unsafe situation. The door eventually opened only after I pushed the door inward with force, locked and unlocked the vehicle again, and tried the handle again. This created a very concerning safety risk because I could not immediately access my vehicle when I needed to get inside quickly as the individual approached me. The problem has not yet been fully reproduced or confirmed by a dealer to my knowledge. I previously mentioned the central locking issue during service and asked whether there was a recall. I was told there was no recall and that a lock replacement would cost approximately $850. The issue I have been experiencing appears consistent with Audi Technical Service Bulletin XXX/5, which applies to 2019 to 2024 Audi A6 models and describes central locking / door lock concerns and related fault codes. Because the defect is intermittent, it may be difficult to reproduce, but it creates a safety concern because the driver may be unable to access the vehicle when needed. I tolerated this issue for a while now, but now I realize what a big safety concern it really is and I'm surprised that a recall has not been issued. This issue is consistent with other owners' experiences (see [XXX] ) who own vehicles on the same infotainment infrastructure (2019-2020 Audi A6/A7/A8/Q7/Q8). Similarly, it is consistent with the issue underpinning Compliance Recall 91DZ, affecting the same vehicles of the 2021 model year onward. This occurred on a street where the speed limit was 30 mph, so safety at that time was not a big issue, but if this had happened on street where increased speed and more turning was required, safety could be a big issue if this happened suddenly.  I was able to get the car to a nearby shop within 5 min, and the next day moved the car to the Audi West Houston.  Audi has identified the power steering rack as faulty is in the process of replacing the electric power steering rack assembly. I drove for 30 or so more seconds as all the systems began to shut down. The car completely stopped within a minute or 2 of the error message, stranding me in the middle of the road. It was impossible to shift it into neutral to safely move it.  If I had been driving on the highway, it would have been REALLY bad! I lost the ability to unlock the doors temporarily but this recovered. I could not turn the car back on, I could just hear the started struggling to turn over. None of the screens in the vehicle worked. No lights or horn worked.   Thankfully this happened in the late afternoon while the sun was still out. The extreme danger posed by not having emergency lights, power steering and minimal braking capability made this an extremely scary situation. Today is Feb. 6, 2023, and they are still unable to get the required alternator parts and we don't have an ETA.  To my knowledge the vehicle has only been assessed by their technician, not anyone else.  There were electrical issues prior to the failure. I took the vehicle to White Allen on Nov.  22 due to warning lights for Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist turning on and off, as well as issues with the engine shutting off at traffic lights and being unable to get the car to move without turning it completely off and back on again.  When I took it to the dealership, they performed many vehicle recalls and repairs including multiple software updates, reworking the transmission wiring harness, servicing the start/stop system, airbag inspection, battery load, control module update, MMI software update, etc. I picked up the vehicle on November 30, 2022.  On December 5, 2022, I had to take it back to White Allen because the bottom display screen was not functioning properly.  (When starting the car, the top half of that screen was scrambled and the bottom half was dark.  After driving for a while, the screen would begin functioning properly).  They diagnosed it as a hardware issue with the top screen that controls the lower screen.  I was told they would replace the top screen, and the parts should be available by December 29.  I asked if the car is safe to drive, and they said I could continue driving it as the lower screen doesn't control anything that might be a safety issue. Two days have passed (where I did not operating the vehicle anymore) and I've now had the vehicle towed to my Audi dealer / service center.  My service advisor called me back this afternoon saying that they confirmed starter / generator / alternator needs to be replaced.  The alternator (only) is now on order for me with no ETA.  He said the last one they fixed with this issue took 42 days.  He said he has 6 vehicles on the lot with the same issue.  This issue appears to be popping up for all early builds that has the Audi 48v MHEV (mild hybrid battery system).  Other owners report they needed their 48v and sometimes 12v batteries replaced. Audi Care came and towed the vehicle and the dealer says the alternator has gone bad and it is on backorder.  This is exceptionally dangerous because if I were not at an exit and in heavy traffic, this could have happened while I was in the middle of the interstate and the vehicle lost all power.  I've since read Audi forum and found this exact scenario has happened to many drivers who were not as lucky to be near an exit or under warranty.  Audi should recall the vehicle because it puts the driver in a very dangerous situation.  I was stuck in an empty parking lot for several hours waiting for a tow but I consider myself lucky after reading the experience of other drivers.  My car has been in the shop for three weeks now and I'm not sure when they will have it fixed. THE CAR BEHIND ME CAME WITHIN INCHES OF REAR ENDING MY CAR. I'M SPECULATING THAT THE DRIVER BEHIND ME DID NOT EXPECT ME TO STOP DEAD IN TRAFFIC ANYMORE THAN I DID. TRAFFIC CONDITIONS AND DISTANCE DID NOT WARRANT THE PRESENSE TO WARN AT ALL LET ALONE ACTIVATE THE EMERGENCY COLLISION RESPONSE BRAKING. MY AUDI DEALERSHIP SAID NO AUDI CONTACT WAS MADE TO THEM, AS I WAS LED TO BELIEVE WOULD TAKE PLACE BY THE ADVOCATE.  AS A 30+ YEAR HUGELY POSITIVE AUDI CUSTOMER WITH MY PRESENT A6 AS MY 11TH AUDI YOU CAN IMAGINE MY DISAPPOINTMENT IN AUDI'S LACK OF CONCERN AND LACK OF RESPONSE.
