The problem is exacerbated by limited availability of service appointments and in my case, the local dealer has been unable to upgrade/fix the BMW software needed to reset the service warning more than 10 days after the service appointment. An easy solution is to allow the operator to over-ride the service warning window once it shows and allow it to recur at the beginning of each start up period to continue warning the rider that a service is due.
