When I returned home from the installation, the tire appeared normal. However, the next morning\u2014within 24 hours of installation\u2014I began driving for work when my car suddenly started shaking violently and pulling hard to the right while on the freeway around 3 AM.  I was able to safely exit the freeway and pull over. Upon inspection, I discovered that the tire had been shredded by the road\u2014the sidewall had catastrophically failed, and the inner structure had separated. The tire had good tread and showed no signs of damage before the incident.  This was a sudden and dangerous failure that placed me at serious risk of losing control of the vehicle. It occurred under normal driving conditions at moderate freeway speed. There were no prior warning signs, dashboard messages, or visible damage.  The tire was manufactured in October 2021 at Pirelli\u2019s Rome, Georgia plant. The failure appears consistent with belt separation or internal delamination.  The damaged tire has been preserved and is available for inspection. I believe this tire may be part of a defective batch and am reporting this for safety investigation. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC (INDEPENDENT) AND HE EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS THE VACUUM PUMP THAT HAD AN OIL LEAK. THIS PUSHED THE OIL UP THE VACUUM LINE AND INTO THE BREAK BOOSTER. SO I NEED TO REPLACE THE VACUUM PUMP, VACUUM LINE, AND BRAKE BOOSTER.  HE AND I DID A CHECK AND FOUND A RECALL ON THE SAME ENGINE IN DIFFERENT BMW MODELS IN THAT YEAR AND AFTER 2007 IN THE SAME MODEL.  I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE I HAVE AND THEY CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION THE IT IS WEIRD THAT THE 2005 X5 4.4 V8 IS NOT IN THE RECALLS, EVEN THOUGH IT IS EXHIBITING THE SAME ISSUES AS OTHER BMW MAKE AND MODELS THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. DIAGNOSED BY DEALER SERVICE CENTER AS SLIP RING ISSUE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.  DECLINED REPAIRS AS I SUSPECTED THIS WAS A WARRANTY ISSUE, BUT DEALERSHIP DISAGREED.  9/20/12 VEHICLE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT.  DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AS A FAULTY DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG AND A FAULTY SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR.    RESEARCH HAS SHOWN ME THAT THE SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR IN THE 2006 VERSION OF THIS VEHICLE IS AN ISSUE UNDER RECALL OR NOTICE, WHILE THIS MODEL YEAR (2005) IS NOT.  I ALSO AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE NAGGING ISSUES WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG THAT HAS BEEN REPAIRED TWICE AND DIAGNOSED DIFFERENTLY MULTIPLE TIMES.  THE COMPLAINT IS IN TWO PARTS. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT OUR INSURANCE COVERED THIS EXCEPT FOR $50 AS THE VEHICLE IS A VERY LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. IT HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN BY MY WIFE WHO IS A SMALL FEMALE ABOUT 130 LBS. THE VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO WEAR AND TEAR AND IS SERVICED REGULARLY. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN DIGITAL PHOTOS WHICH I CAN PROVIDE THAT WILL SHOW THERE IS NO WEAR OR TEAR ON THE SEAT IN THE BURNED/MELTED AREA. WITHIN A FEW DAYS THE SAME SITUATION OCCURRED, AGAIN RESULTING IN LOGISTICAL, FINANCIAL, AND SAFETY ISSUES AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED.  OVER THE NEXT WEEK, WE NOTICED ABOUT 16 OTHER ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ISSUES AND BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP.  AFTER RECEIVING THE CAR BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP, WE CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR.  ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER, THE BATTERY HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AS THE CAR DIED AGAIN.  WITHIN ANOTHER MONTH, THE CAR DIED YET AGAIN!  AGAIN, IT WAS THE BATTERY.  AGAIN, THE BATTERY HAD TO BE REPLACED.    2: THE FAILURE IS, AMONGST MULTIPLE OTHER ISSUES, A CHRONIC BATTERY DRAIN.  3: LAST REPAIR, ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO, THE TCU UNIT WAS REPLACED, ALONG WITH THE BATTERY.  SO FAR, WE ARE ON OUR 5TH BATTERY IN 4 MONTHS IN A NEWER BMW X5!  OUR FUEL GAUGE STILL DOES NOT READ FULL WHEN FULL AND IS INACCURATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONCE HE ARRIVED THERE HE NOTICED THAT WHEN HITTING A BUMP HE WOULD HEAR A CLINKING NOISE FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE.  THE CONTACT CALLED A DEALERSHIP WHILE IN SANTA BARBARA AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING TO THE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST ONE WEEK.  THE CONTACT THEN DROVE VEHICLE TO SEASIDE CALIFORNIA AND THE DEALERSHIP TDROVE THE VEHICLE AND HEARD THE SAME NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE.  SEASIDE BMW INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE THE THRUST RODS WERE BAD AND POSSIBLY THE LEFT FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER AS WELL. THE WARRANTY COVERED \"4 YEARS OR 50,000 MILES\" AND I HAD EXCEEDED THE NUMBER OF YEARS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY.  I UNDERSTAND THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE THE TERMS COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY, BUT THE IMPLICATION MADE BY THE WARRANTY IS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL DRIVE FOR AT LEAST 50,000 MILES.  I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THAT A $60,000+ VEHICLE CAN ONLY DRIVE 27,000 MILES WITHOUT A MAJOR FAILURE.  BMV HAS OFFERED TO COVER 50% OF THE REPAIRS, WHICH WOULD LEAVE OVER $4,000 FOR ME TO COME UP WITH TO MAKE THE VEHICLE DRIVABLE.
