The only warning was a second of vibrations right before the failure.  The tire-maintained inflation pressure during and after the tread separated, proving the structural integrity of the casing waws intact and that this was not caused by a puncture, blowout or road hazard.  It was a catastrophic chemical adhesion bond failure between the tread rubber and the steel belt package. My safety and the safety of other motorists on the highway were put at extreme risk.  When the steel-belted tread separated at high speed, it acted as a spinning whip, causing a violent vibration and severe handling instability that nearly caused a loss of vehicle control.  The flailing treat slapped the vehicle body repeaedly before ripping completely free, causing extensive structural and cosmetic damage to the truck.  It tore off the fender flares entirel, severely gouged and dented the painted metal tailgate, broke the passenger-side taillight, damaging the passenger cab door.  The debris shedding onto the highway created an immediate, severe hazard for vehicle traveling behind me.  The vehilve and the failed tire casing are currently preserved and available for immediate inspection.  A local tire service center examined the tire and confirmed the structural casing was uncompromised and holding air, pointing heavily to an internal factory/ manufacturing defect.  We also have pictures of the truck, along with pictures of the tire still on the rim.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2022","productMake":"CHEVROLET","productModel":"SILVERADO 2500","manufacturer":"General Motors, LLC"},{"type":"Tire","productYear":"9999","productMake":"GOODYEAR","productModel":"WRANGLER TRAILRUNNER AT","size":"LT275/65R20","manufacturer":"Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company"}]},{"odiNumber":11763113,"manufacturer":"General Motors, LLC","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"06/01/2025","dateComplaintFiled":"09/09/2026","vin":"1GC4YPEY7NF","components":"ELECTRICAL SYSTEM","summary":"Chevrolet had a tail gate recall on the Silverado vehicles due to the rear tailgate opening on its own while driving down the road. I bought it used from a franchised Chevrolet dealer in April 2024 and am the current owner. The date reported is the date I examined the vehicle and confirmed the label was absent. This is not an incident, and I do not know when or how the label came to be missing.  I checked the driver-side hinge pillar, door-latch post, door edge, and surrounding areas. The only labels present are: a GM trailering label (10,000 lb GVWR, 26,000 lb GCWR, 6,390 lb rear GAWR, no front GAWR, no FMVSS conformance statement); a Tire and Loading Information placard (states seating capacity, a 2,111 lb occupant-and-cargo limit, and tire sizes, but no GVWR and no GAWR); and a cellular module sticker with no weight information. Nothing on the vehicle states the manufacturer, the month and year of manufacture, the GVWR with front and rear GAWR, and the FMVSS conformance statement. A 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD I photographed for comparison bears all of it.  On the panel below the trailering label there is a rectangular area, distinguishable from the surrounding paint, with adhesive residue visible and palpable. I report this without characterizing it.  The practical effect is that I cannot determine my front or rear gross axle weight rating from the vehicle. This truck was also built with a factory-reduced 10,000 lb GVWR rather than the approximately 11,350 lb published for the same configuration, and the certification label is the one document that would display the certified ceiling alongside the actual axle capacities.  Photographs of every label present, of the comparison label, and of the residue area are attached. General Motors has not provided the VIN-specific build record or any record of whether a certification label was applied at assembly.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2022","productMake":"CHEVROLET","productModel":"SILVERADO 2500","manufacturer":"General Motors, LLC"}]},{"odiNumber":11755030,"manufacturer":"General Motors, LLC","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"07/02/2026","dateComplaintFiled":"08/05/2026","vin":"2GC4YPEY8N1","components":"POWER TRAIN","summary":"I own a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD equipped with the 6.6L Duramax diesel engine and Allison-branded 10 speed (10L1000) automatic transmission. VIN: [XXX].  While pulling away from a traffic light and accelerating to approximately 20 to 30 mph, the transmission suddenly began shifting harshly and erratically, experienced delayed engagement, unexpectedly downshifted, and would not shift into overdrive. At the same time, the check engine light illuminated and a Reduced Engine Power warning appeared. There were no warning lights, messages, or transmission symptoms prior to this incident. I pulled into a parking lot for approximately one hour, but when I resumed driving, the same failure occurred again.  The transmission malfunction created a safety concern because the vehicle unexpectedly lost normal shifting and power while operating in traffic, making it difficult to accelerate and maintain speed safely. I contacted OnStar, which reported both an engine and transmission fault. I then drove the vehicle to my independent diesel mechanic, who diagnosed a failure of the transmission control valve body caused by an internal solenoid that is not serviceable separately, requiring replacement of the complete transmission control valve body assembly. The repair has been completed, so the original failed component is no longer available for inspection.  The failure was confirmed by an independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by Chevrolet, law enforcement, or an insurance representative. I contacted General Motors to determine whether my VIN was included in the existing transmission control valve recall and was advised that it is not. I am submitting this complaint because my truck experienced the same symptoms and the same component failure as vehicles covered by the recall, despite my VIN not being included. Upon walking around behind my vehicle, the tailgate was opening and closing repeatedly.  I attempted to manually close it to see if it would stop, I pushed the lock button on my key fob, and I pressed the tailgate button on the dash which would normally cause it to either open or close depending on its current position.  None of those steps resolved the issue.  I quickly googled the problem, identified the correct fuse in the dash, and pulled the endgate fuse to stop the tailgate from opening and closing on its own.  With the fuse pulled, the tailgate does not function. From the point of purchase Ive noted and informed the dealer of a very soft brake pedal pressure, and its gotten to the point where the brakes have to be pumped to get enough braking power to stop the vehicle at lower speeds, at highway speeds the vehicle is not able to stop in an emergency braking situation without pumping the brake pedal to build pressure, and especially when loaded or towing a load under the recommended gvwr. This problem is magnified by the fact that since day one the rear brakes have been wearing at a much greater rate than the front brakes. As indicated by the vehicles on board diagnostics display.  This has gotten to the point where the rear rotors are warped and the rear brakes stick at a stop and you can feel the release when you apply the throttle.  This vehicle has had to have the rear end rebuilt not just once but now going on the second time.  A GM engineer that came to look at the truck avoided addressing the brake issue after the dealership requested General Motors assistance from their tech and then engineering department. This vehicles braking system represents a great risk for injury and or accident in its present condition, and the dealer Bradley Chevrolet  Lake Havasu City Arizona as well as General Motors Customer Care Dept. has been made aware of this and has yet to take any action. I had my keys on the tailgate and they slipped and fell - anywhere else they would have fell straight to the ground, but they happened to fall into this framing piece that does not have a cap or anything at all.   AAA says this is the third one they've seen in my area this month.   My safety concerns are twofold:   1. The keys are moving the entire length of that framing piece that extends the entire length of the truck. I am concerned that if they are close to the cab/front of the truck, my vehicle could be unlocked and potentially stolen until the keys are able to be retrieved.   2. If my keys (which are bulky) can fall in there, there is a significant concern that other debris like leaves, sticks, or anything in the bed off the truck can fall into that same space, as well as moisture/water. I am concerned that this will increase the likelyhood of rust occuring in the framing of the vehicle.   I have reported my concerns to GM/Chevrolet and they are stating it is not their concern. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle began making screeching and clunking noises. The instrument panel displayed that the vehicle was shifting from 2WD to 4WD. The contact stated that after arriving at his destination and parking the vehicle, the vehicle failed to move. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the front differential had separated; however, it would be an extensive amount of time before the part would be available to repair the vehicle due to the part being on backorder. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.  The contact stated that in addition to the front differential failure, the transfer case was also damaged. GM customer service provided the contact will a rental truck while their vehicle was in the shop. Both the front differential and the transfer case were replaced.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2022","productMake":"CHEVROLET","productModel":"SILVERADO 2500","manufacturer":"General Motors, LLC"}]},{"odiNumber":11485953,"manufacturer":"General Motors, LLC","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"08/12/2022","dateComplaintFiled":"09/22/2022","vin":"1GC4YNE79NF","components":"POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM","summary":"The transmission oil coolant rubs against the engine oil coolant line causing one or both lines to leak out. There are no warning lights when this happens, the vehicle will just stop accelerating. I was on the freeway pulling a trailer weighing about 9k pounds, traveling at about 75 mph when this happened to me.  I was able to clear the traffic and limp off the freeway. The car was towed to Henson Chevrolet Buick GMC in Madisonville, TX. I contact my insurance company USAA and explained what happened they did not wish to look into it. The dealership is very vague when providing updates. I have been also working with a GM customer service rep. No one seems to really care about the safety issue. I have requested a detailed report of the issues and the repairs. This caused the truck to disable electronic stability control due to excessive steering angle. Brought to dealer for service they stated nothing was loose on the vehicle and that they could not align it until they received some adapters for their alignment machine. I took the vehicle home and found that the left tie rod jam nut had not been tightened during manufacture which allowed the alignment to come out of adjustment. These need to be checked on this model truck and trucks need alignment checks.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2022","productMake":"CHEVROLET","productModel":"SILVERADO 2500","manufacturer":"General Motors, LLC"}]},{"odiNumber":11466390,"manufacturer":"General Motors, LLC","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"11/12/2021","dateComplaintFiled":"05/27/2022","vin":"1GC5WLE79NF","components":"STEERING,SUSPENSION,UNKNOWN OR OTHER","summary":"Vehicle purchased new in November of 2021 and driven approximately 6,000 miles. Under windy conditions, particularly at highway speeds, the truck is nearly impossible to drive straight down the road and keep under control. It feels as if you're driving on ice and takes a lot of effort to get back under control. In addition, wind blasts from semi-trucks blow the truck all over the road. Other wind blasts such as those experienced when passing under an overpass or a clearing of woods or hilly terrain that allows for gusts of cross winds result in an equally frightening experience. This truck is a heavy duty 3/4-ton advertised for its towing ability. I have driven 3-4,000 miles (of the 6,000) towing a trailer. The truck steers and handles just as poorly while towing and results in an equally frightening experience I have had the truck at the dealership for over 20 days and although they acknowledge the problem, they have not been able to determine the cause of the problem. The dealership had a GM engineer inspect the truck and his opinion is that this type of handling is \"a normal characteristic of the truck\". I have attached a copy of the dealership report. I am very fearful that having this vehicle on the road is a serious hazard and will result in a serious accident. with possible injury and/or death. I have owned hundreds of vehicles, driven millions of miles in my life and have never experienced anything like this.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2022","productMake":"CHEVROLET","productModel":"SILVERADO 2500","manufacturer":"General Motors, LLC"}]}]}
