This caused me to lose both power steering and braking capabilities. From what I gather, this part is part of a "phased" initiative recall (see N252516900 Fuel Pump Power Control Module). This part was seemingly installed in all or most of GM SUVs and Trucks since 2021. Unfortunately, only some 2021-2023 models are under recall due to the "phased" nature of this recall. Meanwhile, all Heavy Duty trucks are driving around on our roadways, highways, and interstates, just like I was, towing heavy machinery, equipment, and RVs because both you and GM are dragging your feet on demanding these flawed modules be removed from these vehicles. In summation, virtually every GM SUV and truck on the road produced since 2021 is a ticking time bomb that could stall at any moment and disable both power steering and braking capability. If thats not bad enough, concerned owners, such as myself, are stonewalled with the words "there is no active recall on your vehicle " both by GM and your very website. The "phased" nature of this recall is unacceptable and is putting lives at risk. Had I been traveling at highway speeds when this failure occurred, while towing a heavy load, with braking traffic in front of me or a sharp turn, I would not have been able to stop or turn. This is an urgent matter and should be addressed accordingly, not in a "phased" manner.
First started around 4 to 6000 miles, felt a shuttering between 50 and 65 mph. This is occurred many times taken to a dealership always get same result, no problem found. Problem always occurs just after a transmission shift which I can tell by RPM. When I apply gas shuttering sometimes increases not always. Also noticed that sometimes shifting on a flat surface 65 miles an hour engine will speed up to almost 2000 RPM and when it goes to shift back, I get a clunk or sometimes a shutter normal cruising is about 1500 RPM at 65 mile an hour. I didn’t notice towing an empty trailer about 2600 pounds shattering seemed worse. With no Trailer I sometimes get erratic shifting where RPM goes 1500 to 2000 to 2500 and then back down again then back up again then it can shift all the way back to 1500 RPM still maintaining 65 mph. Also another problem may be connected to transmission, but I have pulled out into traffic pushed on the pedal and it feels like the truck has no power push on the pedal a little bit more still no power and all of a sudden it’s like everything kicks in RPMs, increase rapidly and truck accelerates extremely fast, throwing things off the dash moving things on the floorboard. Sometimes I see that a downshift occurs and RPMs increase other times I see RPM staying right at the 2000 mark and it still occurs almost got rear ended a couple of times. Check engine light has been on one dealership said they pulled over 40 codes. Still they all claim can’t duplicate problem. It would shake violently after starting and occasionally stop on its own while driving. On [XXX], my wife and I got into the vehicle and started driving from our home in West Virginia. While driving uphill at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly began shaking severely and then came to a complete stop. After a few moments, it restarted itself and accelerated to about 30–40 mph while continuing to shake violently. This happened several times during the trip. Fuel consumption also became extremely abnormal, dropping to approximately 6 miles per gallon. Because Team One Chevrolet in Oakland, Maryland, is the nearest dealer, we drove there for service. After several hours, the dealer returned the vehicle and informed us that they had replaced a sensor. However, after leaving the dealership, the Check Engine light came on again after only three engine starts. I immediately returned to the dealership, where the warning light was cleared. The following day, the Check Engine light returned. When I contacted the dealership, I was told to continue driving the vehicle with the warning light on for one to two weeks. After more than a week, I returned to the dealership, and the light was reset again. A few days later, the same problem reappeared. At that point, I was informed that, according to dealership procedures, replacement parts could not be ordered until the issue had been reported three times. After the third visit, the parts were finally ordered, and I was required to wait several more weeks for another service appointment. I also reported the issue directly to Chevrolet. Despite multiple visits, repeated failures, and a significant amount of time spent attempting repairs, my vehicle remains unrepaired. My factory warranty is approaching expiration, and no one has provided a clear answer regarding what will happen if the upcoming repair attempt fails to resolve the problem. Immediately after the recall work, all exterior lights, interior lights, and trailer lights began flickering on and off while driving. The windshield wipers also pause or stop for a moment when this happens. None of these issues existed before the recall. This appears to be a module reset or corrupted calibration caused during the recall reprogramming. GM has already told NHTSA that they have hundreds of field complaints about flickering headlamps on 2024 trucks, and they identified lighting flicker as a safety defect. My symptoms match those issues exactly. The dealer refuses to accept responsibility, saying the recall is “closed,” but the electrical failure only began immediately after their programming. This is a safety hazard when driving at night or in the rain, and it affects the trailer braking/lighting circuits as well. I have an active GM case opened for this issue. These indicators lead me to believe the housing was in a corrosive environment prior to being installed onto the differential where both the internal and external surfaces of the housing were exposed to same corrosive environment. Several concerns: If the inside of the axil housing is rusted as bad as the outside, the integrity of the axil has been compromised; Internal rust contamination will lead to premature failure; the housing was not properly heat-treated; no vehicle should be delivered brand new with this level of rust on any part. The issue was pointed out to GM shortly after purchased new. The vehicle has been kept in a non-corrosive environment since it was purchased, and GM refuses to assess the internal integrity of the axil housing and refuse to install a new housing. I immediately slowed down and pulled over with no indications or lights being illuminated on my dash. I turned the truck off and let it sit for 10 minutes and restarted it. Having no issues I signaled back onto [XXX] and the truck accelerated to nearly 65 with no issues. As I hit 62 on the dash it again locked up the rear tires. I again pulled over, this time questioning what could be causing this, knowing the first time indeed was what happened. I put my truck into park, and still had no warning lights or check engine light. I then put my truck into neutral and then clicked the auto button thinking maybe something with the rear end is locking my brakes up. Upon doing so I again entered the roadway, big mistake on my part as this time upon reaching 60+mph all 4 tires simultaneously locked up. How I didn’t roll, I have no idea. I noticed a significant loss of power. I took the truck back to the dealer and told them about the issue. They had it another 2 days and returned it to me, saying there was nothing wrong. Approximately a week later, I was driving down the road and the check engine light appeared on the gauge cluster. I immediately drove the truck to the dealer, and the DTCs were emissions-related. The service advisor, Jeff, told me to keep driving the truck, and it might go away. I drove the truck home, 20 mins away from the dealer, and as I pulled into my driveway, a message on the gauge cluster said, "Add engine oil." I notified the Dealer of the issue immediately. The next morning, I added a gallon of oil, and there were still no signs of oil on the dipstick. At that time, I noticed there was no coolant in the reservoir, but engine oil residue, and a collapsed upper radiator hose. The truck was towed to the dealer later that day. After inspection, the dealer said the oil cooler had failed. They sent me the service bulletin, but that bulletin only says, "oil and coolant mix," nothing about the disappearance of the fluid, and no explanation of the emissions codes. The dealer and GM's corporate office are refusing the share the diagnostic data on how they have concluded that the oil cooler has failed. Their solution is to replace the oil cooler and see what happens. This truck has 1000 miles left on the warranty, and the parts/procedures expire at the end of the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Recap: GM will not share diagnostic data, and they are refusing to extend coverage, yet their remedy is to experiment with my $70,000 truck, and the moment this truck is out of warranty, they are going to wash their hands of it. This vehicle has an Allison 10 speed transmission and began shifting extremely hard or violently from 7th to 8th gear in November of 2023. This problem began when pulling a travel trailer that is weight rated well below the capacity of this truck. This hard shift causes vehicle occupants to lunge during the event and it is feared that a catastrophic failure will occur, resulting in a vehicle accident. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where purchased as it is still under manufacturer’s warranty, and in March of 2024 the dealership performed a software update and transmission “re-learn” which solved the issue until the truck was used to pull a travel trailer again. The issue returned in November of 2024. The truck was returned to the dealership for follow up but the dealership has not taken any further action to resolve the problem at this time. There is a service bulletin (N242467600) issued from GM that seems related to this vehicle but I’ve received no notification that this vehicle is eligible for transmission replacement under this service bulletin. At one point on this ordeal, the truck was in the shop for 61 days. It had been in my possession for 18 days. I am currently in the process of a buyback for the vehicle. I had to hire a lemon law attorney. A supervisor from GM advised that GM is refusing a buy back for the vehicle. The vehicle also displayed an error, "key not found" while I was driving at 50mph. A bit unsettling. That error showed up twice on the dash. The dealership said they fixed the issue with a software update. Recently, the vehicle has a ticking noise on the left side of the engine, and the engine idles so low, that it feels like it's going to stall. As I applied the truck brakes the trailer brake controller re-connected and applied the trailer brakes at the relatively heavy force that I was using for the truck brakes because the trailer brakes had disconnected. This caused the combination truck and trailer to jolt and then skid on the wet pavement. The truck is scheduled to be serviced at a GM dealer today.
While the phone connects to android auto, the system will treat the music as a phone call and reduces the A/C to account for the possible noise on a phone call from the system. The vehicle is in Arizona, and this is a problem that you want to avoid. The A/C system will only resume when phones are disconnected from the truck. The issue happens when phones are connected via Bluetooth or a cord in the USB-C slot. Incoming messages will not play when they come in. The system states that no active subscription is enabled to allow messages to play across the truck's device using google assist. The issue poses concerns as Arizona is a hand-free device state. The truck does not allow the full abilities of the android auto system.
