I knew the transmission was bad a week after I bought it at the ford dealership. All they did under their limited warranty was a transmission flush. Now it has 70,000 and the torque converter is toast now. I was on the interstate going 70mph. Let off the gas and a huge aggressive deceleration happened and I almost lost control. It is constant issue now when going over 70mph. Took it to ford, no transmission codes so they didn\u2019t try fix it or find anything wrong. Noticing high rpms trying to get up to speed. This malfunction creates a direct and serious safety hazard \u2014 during the period the display is frozen, the image shown does not reflect actual real-time conditions behind the vehicle. Any pedestrian, child, or object that moves into the path of the vehicle after the display freezes will not be visible to the driver. This significantly increases the risk of a backover collision. Dealership Inspection Outcome: I brought the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership for diagnosis. Upon inspection, the technician was unable to detect the diagnostic trouble code associated with Recall 25S89, and as a result, the vehicle was deemed to have passed inspection. However, the malfunction continues to occur. The failure to trigger the recall code does not resolve the underlying issue \u2014 the camera display still freezes and blacks out during reverse operation, leaving the driver without a functioning rearview safety system. Safety Concern: A rearview camera is a federally mandated safety feature. A display that intermittently freezes and then goes dark is functionally equivalent to having no camera at all during those critical moments. This is not a minor inconvenience \u2014 it is a safety system failure that puts pedestrians and other individuals behind the vehicle at risk every time the vehicle is put in reverse. Requested Action: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether Recall 25S89 adequately captures all failure modes associated with this defect, and whether vehicles that present with this symptom but do not trigger the associated diagnostic code are being improperly cleared at dealerships. A remedy should be identified and applied to all affected vehicles regardless of whether the recall code is detected during inspection.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2019","productMake":"FORD","productModel":"TRANSIT CONNECT","manufacturer":"Ford Motor Company"}]},{"odiNumber":11735649,"manufacturer":"Ford Motor Company","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"04/21/2026","dateComplaintFiled":"05/04/2026","vin":"NM0LS6E24K1","components":"SERVICE BRAKES","summary":"The vehicle has only been driven for 24K miles and there was an issue with the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) and the recommendation is for it to be completely replaced. When I tried to accelerate to avoid cars behind me from hitting me, the car prevented me from speeding up for approximately five seconds. RPM is over 5000 b4 it allowed speed up. This happened on two separate occasions,. The car would not start after the second trip and was towed to a Ford dealer for repair. I was told I needed a new alternator and battery and what I experienced on the freeway was the alternator impacting the transmission. I picked up what I thought was a repaired vehicle, traveled to one of the same places I had gone previously and approximately 45 minutes into my drive, the same event took place with the car. Slowing severely and not allowing me to accelerate to return to freeway speed for approximately five seconds. It was taken back for repairs shortly thereafter. I was told it wasn't the transmission. It was a sensor in the brake system that causes the brakes to be applied just enough to create friction that heats up two of the wheels to such a high temp., the brake pads melted onto the rotors. The master cylinder, pads, rotors, sensors all needed replacement. The car is a 2019, purchased new, out of warranty with only 26,000 miles. Ford has offered to pay part of the repairs but expects me to pay the other portion. This car has been well cared for. Nothing I have done while driving it has caused their sensor to create such a dangerous situation on the freeway. It also started happening before it was driven to the dealership by refusing to move for five seconds every time the car came to a stop. I have read other accounts of the same situation happening to people who own the same model and year. This is a dangerous situation created by Ford's faulty equipment. I have reached out to Ford and they will NOT do anything except to tell me I should have it repaired/replaced at a Ford authorized dealer so that the parts are under warranty. I use this compact cargo van for my business and am being for to put unnecessary wear and tear and miles on my personal vehicle for work. The transmission started to fail and the vehicle went into \"limp\" mode. The vehicle started to shift gears erratically, had a loss of power, slipping gears, and hard upshift and down shift. This happened all within a matter of 5 miles. Thankfully, I was able to get the vehicle back home and didn't loose control or have a catastrophic loss. The Ford dealer also found a Diagnostic Trouble Code for the Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor and when the vehicle gear selector was placed in \"drive\" the vehicle would move in reverse and vise versa. Ford's answer to this problem is \"I am always willing to consider individual requests for assistance beyond the warranty period. I hope you understand; however, that I must place limits on the post-warranty adjustment policy. Regrettably, I have to advise you that your vehicle is beyond those limits. As such, I am unable to assist with repair costs; however, I encourage you to have the repair performed at your Ford dealership as parts come with a warranty.\" The factory powertrain warranty is 5 years/60,000 miles. This vehicle is a 2019 with 88,900 miles. I believe that the reasonable expectation of the lifespan of a transmission is 150,000 mile at a minimum for any vehicle. There are several recalls on the transmission as well as a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 22-2281) published showing how to fix the problem when it happens. My work van does not have a rearview mirror or window so its crucial I'm a sole proprietor business owner and my only business vehicle (2019 Ford transit connect) has been in the shop a total of over 10 weeks in the last 10 months. I have had numerous problems with my vehicle including my back up camera not working (which is very important since I don't have a rear view mirror or back windows), Ford pass not working, AC blowing heat, transmission problems, check engine light on, vehicle stalling, and emissions problem. So far in 2022, it has spent over 3 weeks in the shop and is currently in the shop. I have had 3 different computer modules, EGR valve, torque converter, and backup camera replaced and I was just told today it needs another back-up camera and the heater control module replaced. I bought my vehicle brand new from Village Ford (now Gary Yeoman) in 2019 and it currently has 38,000 miles on it. The regular warranty ended at 36k miles, but Ford corporate purchased me an extended warranty covering my vehicle to 75k miles due to the vehicle spending an entire month in the shop Nov 2021. I have called and emailed Ford Corporate multiple times including talking to very unhelpful supervisor. I clearly have a bad vehicle and it is a huge inconvenience and is adversely affecting my business. I have asked for Ford to buy my vehicle from me and told there is nothing they can do. As a consumer I am made to feel like all these problems are somehow my fault, when I have done nothing wrong except unknowingly bought a lemon vehicle and because I haven't had the exact same problem 3x, it doesn't qualify for the FL lemon law. There should be some provision for a vehicle with 8+ problems and that has spent 11 weeks in the shop in 10 months. This is a wrapped WORK vehicle that advertises my business. Guess how many business cards I passed out during those 11 weeks? ZERO.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2019","productMake":"FORD","productModel":"TRANSIT CONNECT","manufacturer":"Ford Motor Company"}]},{"odiNumber":11427554,"manufacturer":"Ford Motor Company","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"07/08/2021","dateComplaintFiled":"08/03/2021","vin":"NM0LS7E28K1","components":"POWER TRAIN","summary":"2019 FORD TRANSIT CONNECT 2.0L 8 SPD AUTO transmission. 84,000 MILES.
