Tires only had 50k miles on them when they were rated for 80k miles: the front driver side Ttire ruptured while on major hwy in texas. No signs of air loss and the road was clear of any debris. Steering started to lightly shake and eventually came to a violent shake, then the front driver tire ruptured. Uncontrollable steering from the rupture caused the truck to slam and scrape into the concrete dividing barrier. If it were not for the other drivers around and being then cautioning their driving behaviors, this may have resulted fatally. Other drivers and my self may have easily collided with each other on a major traffic highway. I’m still extremely mindful of this happening again. This caused me as a customer, originally thinking this tire manufacturer is to be trusted, to not being a customer any longer as well as causing nearly $30,000 of needed repairs. From what I am reading from this site, plenty of other drivers have experienced the same, almost identical happenings. This is a safety issue that needs a recall on this line of tires and the manufacturer should be liable for all costs to the consumer witch includes vehicle rentals, hotel fees and insurance deductibles, s as well as the entire bill of repairs the insurance companies dish out. The location and height of the gear shifter on this vehicle significantly obstruct the driver’s view of the center infotainment screen and console, especially while seated in a normal, upright driving position. The gear shifter blocks important information such as navigation directions, ETA, media controls, and other on-screen notifications. This forces me to lean forward or reposition myself in an unnatural way while driving, which I believe creates an unnecessary distraction and increases the risk of driver error or loss of situational awareness. I have attempted to adjust my seating position, steering wheel angle, and seat height, but none of these adjustments fully resolve the obstruction. After discussing this issue with other owners online, I found that multiple GMC Sierra owners have experienced the same visibility problem. Some have even resorted to aftermarket modifications to address the design flaw. I believe this is a design oversight that affects safe vehicle operation. I respectfully request that GMC and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this issue for potential corrective action. ⸻ Requested Action: Please investigate this safety concern and consider potential solutions, such as a recall, design revision, or retrofit option to improve screen visibility without forcing the driver into unsafe driving postures. The vehicle was new purchased new May 2023. August 2024 the blower motor stopped working. Took the vehicle to Jerry's GMC Weatherford, TX (where it was purchased) and they check the blower motor and replaced it. No charge for the service. Reason given for blower motor problem was, "motor shorted out, burnt the wiring and the connector". Now, February, 2025, the blower motor stopped working once again. Took it back to Jerry's GMC, Weatherfore, TX. The blower motor had shorted out once again, burnt the wires and connector. Reason given for the reaccurring problem, " the blower motors they are getting have a bearing problem, causing the motor to go to ground, overheat the wiring and burns the connector". They replaced the blower motor once again and no charge. The reason for this notice is, With these motors shorting out because of internal problems, the wiring melting and connector melting, there is the possibility of a fire hazard. We feel that there needs to an investigation into this problem before something happens. Apparently a known issue with trailers equipped with solar battery chargers which have higher charge than vehicle battery. It feeds back into the trailer brake power module causing it to shut down. The vehicle has an integrated trailer brake controller as it is specifically designed with primary function as a tow vehicle. Shutting down the integrated trailer brake controller results in loss of trailer brakes. Not having trailer brakes is critically dangerous. GM has issued a TSB #23-NA-149 specifically addressing this known defect. Unfortunately, GM refuses to authorize its service technicians to replace the defective brake controller unless they experience the defect personally - the policy is to disbelieve the customer with the defective vehicle. Effectively, this requires providing the trailer to the service tech to drive around until the brakes fail, thus creating another dangerous situation for a tech who may or may not have experience driving vehicles over 50’ in length. Thus, it would appear the best remedy is to enforce a recall to replace the defective brake controller before someone is harm by loss of brakes, since GM requires its techs to encounter a loss of brakes before authorization of replacement of the known defective unit. All trailers are required to have trailer brakes. In addition the trailer must be equipped with an auxillary battery to activate the emergency breakaway brakes. If the voltage on this battery is higher than the towing vehicle battery, the vehicle controller can display a trailer wiring fault display. When this happens there are no brakes on the trailer. This fault happens intermittantly and can last between 10 seconds to 30 seconds. We constantly have this problem with our vehicle. On two occasions we were in an emergency situation towing a12,500 lb load and had no brakes. This is A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN. The GMC dealer stated that the problem is because our trailer uses a regular car battery to work the hydraulics and the brakes. They stated that the controller pings the trailer to see is anything is connected and that the car battery can interfear with this signal. When this signal does not return the controller senses that no trailer is connected and disables the trailer brakes. The trailer that we have is new and it is wired according to industry standards. Thre are thousands of trailers on the road that have this configuratiion. We have inspected the trailer and cannot find wiring problems. We have towed the same tyrailer with two different trucks and do not have this problem. A quick search on the internet will reveal that many other people are experiencing the same problem.
While driving both drivers and passenger side blind spot warning lights flash on and off when no cars are near. This is an extremely unsafe condition that could easily cause a rear-end accident or a jackknife condition of the vehicle/trailer combination. When the column shifter of the vehicle is in the standard drive position the shifter covers part of the screen and the direct path to the radio volume control dial and infotainment home button. It has been found and replicated that attempting to interact with the infotainment screen UI and the home button/volume control dial the driver may easily accidentally bump the shifter into the neutral position. Bumping this 8000lbs+ vehicle into neutral unintentionally can be extremely dangerous to its passengers and fellow motorists especially when hauling a heavy trailer or load like heavy-duty pickup trucks are designed to do. Bumping the truck into neutral can allow the truck to lose its acceleration capabilities and degrade braking capabilities as the engine would be disconnected from the drive wheels, limiting engine braking and exhaust braking. This kind of braking is commonly used to help stop the truck with heavy trailers and loads. This problem has been commonly referred to in multiple Facebook groups relating to the 2024 GMC Heavy Duty Truck. I personally have not had it inspected by any third party as there is not much they can do to remedy the issue. I personally recommend that General Motors redesign the column shifter in these trucks shortening it to come no further than the diameter of the steering wheel eliminating any interference with the infotainment system and the home button/volume dial. GM shall replace this updated shifter free of charge in all trucks just recently built. For GM's sake, it is important that this issue is remedied ASAP as the truck just began production and there is a limited amount on the road. This is available for inspection upon request.
