The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed into a parking space, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to stop. The vehicle unintendedly accelerated and drove over a parking space bump. The contact shifted the transmission into reverse(R) and depressed the accelerator pedal, and then the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to stop. The contact turned the steering wheel while driving approximately 30-40 MPH to avoid crashing in other vehicles and structures in the parking lot. The vehicle reversed in circles and crashed into the side of a fence before it came to a stop. The air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered back, hip, and leg pain but had not received medical attention immediately. The contact's granddaughter was a passenger inside the vehicle and had no injuries. The contact later sought medical attention from a massage therapist. No Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that there was 100% acceleration without the brakes activating, and the vehicle was not shifted into park(P). The vehicle was then towed to a Collision Center for rear damages; however, the vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed that a third-party company would evaluate the vehicle and the Event Data Recorder (EDR) to recalibrate the EDR. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. It resists movement making small adjustments, especially on the highway. It gets worse the longer that I drive but then goes away if I stop the car (like at a rest stop) but then reappears soon after. After my 2nd complaint to the dealership, the service manager states that he took it on a one hour drive and didn't experience the same issue. I called the dealership on 10/30/2025 stating that the problem seems to be getting worse. They said that they couldn't do anything unless they can recreate the issue, but could not offer me a loaner vehicle while they have my car. At times, knowing that the steering is electronically controlled, I fear that I will lose all steering when driving on the highway. Honda has confirmed that repair parts will not be available for an extended period. The following warning messages appeared within the first few weeks of ownership in January 16/2024: Power Steering Problem: Road Departure Mitigation Problem: Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem: Adaptive Cruise Control Problem:Lane Keeping Assist Problem: While these specific issues have been resolved, the experience revealed a pattern of negligence and inadequate support from the dealership, undermining my confidence in their ability to address future problems effectively. The combination of unresolved recall #24V-763, persistent defects, and lack of dealership support has left me with a vehicle that is unsafe and unreliable. Since its purchase, several parts have already been replaced, further demonstrating a pattern of defects and unreliability. I have completely lost confidence in this car’s quality, safety, and functionality. These issues demonstrate that the car has not met reasonable standards of quality and functionality since its purchase. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate the following: Honda’s inability to provide a timely remedy for recall and the safety risks associated with the delay. The repeated refusal of the authorized dealership to adequately address reported defects and provide appropriate service. My eligibility for a replacement vehicle under federal safety and consumer protection laws, given the vehicle’s history of unresolved issues and significant safety risks. Per the NHTSA website, “due to improper production of the high-pressure fuel pump in the vehicle…a fuel leak can occur when the high-pressure fuel pump is in operation”. The safety risk of this issue is that “if a fuel leak occurs in the presence of an ignition source, the risk of a fire, crash, or injury are increased”. On [XXX] I had a Hyundai Sonata Sport that was in perfect condition and up to date on its maintenance that spontaneously combusted while being towed from NYC to NJ. I lost thousands of dollars of items as well as the 1st car I purchased on my own. The incident was traumatic, and it is thought that the reason it occurred was an undiagnosed fuel leak in the vehicle. To now find out that the car that I leased right after this incident also has the potential to have the same outcome is very unsettling. I called my Honda dealership and Honda corporate regarding this issue on 10/29/2024 and was told I need to wait until December for a letter in the mail with instructions on how the issue will be remedied. Honda was unwilling to give me a guarantee that my car is safe to drive and was unwilling to inspect my car unless I smelled gas in the car or saw gas under the car after it was running. This situation is extremely distressing and not reasonable. I trusted Honda to provide me with a safe, reliable vehicle. I request that I am given a replacement vehicle of equal value without a recall on it, or an inspection of the vehicle looking to see if my car has a defective fuel pump. A traditional car’s cruise control, for instance when set to 60MPH allows you to depress the accelerator, speed up to 65MPH to pass a vehicle, and then release the accelerator. The car then slows down naturally and begins controlling at 60MPH. The deceleration is gentle and the brakes are not applied and the brake lights do not illuminate. The accord hybrid under the same conditions will apply some level of regeneration to slow the vehicle and also activate the brake light to vehicles behind. While it’s understandable that the brake light would be illuminated if substantial regeneration is being applied, the brake light illuminates under even the slightest deceleration creating an unnecessary hazard. This can occur if the car is slowing down from only 2MPH above the set point. Brake lights illuminate although the amount of regeneration being applied is negligible. It can also happen coming over the crest of a hill on a gentle downslope even with no prior depression of the accelerator. This is a serious deficiency and incorrect behavior.
