THE VEHICLE MAKES LOUD AND CRACKING NOISES AND AT TIMES THE STEERING GETS HEAVY AND ALSO LOOSE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS.   THE DEALER HAD RESPONDED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE IN THE LATER YEAR RIDGELINE MODELS AND THERE HAD BEEN A SERVICE BULLETIN ON HOW TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE ON THESE MODELS.  I DID NOT SEE ANY CURENT RECALLS FROM THIS YEAR, HOWEVER THIS DOESN'T MEAN THAT THIS IS NOT A KNOWN OR GROWING ISSUE FOR THE YEAR HONDA THAT I CURRENTLY OWN.  PLEASE ADVISE. The truck only had 86,000 miles on it and has been always dealer maintained. We buy Hondas mostly for their reliability. The Honda Dealership witnessed the dashboard warning lights and ran a diagnostic indicating the problem.  The dealership ordered a replacement camera and replaced it. Parts and Labor were $2118.78. The replacement cost and required re-calibration via the dealer is ~$2000. The RPM's drop and you literally lunge forward until power resumes.  No warning lights come on and no codes are given.  This put my safety at risk and the driver accelerating towards me at risk.  This is the first time it happened with my 2021 Ridgeline.  However, my 2019 Ridgeline had this happen about a dozen times.  Honda Service could never replicate the issue with the 2019 Ridgeline, but there was enough data out there about defective High Pressure Fuel Pumps that they agreed to replace the pump.  After replacing the pump, the issue went away.  Now my 2021 Ridgeline is doing the exact same thing.  I can therefore only assume it's the High Pressure Fuel Pump again.  I see that Honda recalled 628,000 vehicles in 2021 and then recalled an additional 720,000 vehicles in 2024 for the High Pressure Fuel Pump failing.  My current VIN for some reason is not in this recall.  Honda Corporate was of no help whatsoever when contacting them.  They told me my truck is not under recall. Dealer scanned the vehicle with a code U300-40 Multipurpose Camera Unit/Millimeter Wave Radar Internal Electronic Failure, and diagnosed a failure of the multipurpose camera, which was then replaced and recalibrated. I have retained the failed unit after paying to have the replacement installed and calibrated.  All warning lamps for the above mentioned systems flashed on my dashboard every time the vehicle was started, prior to the dealer repair. My family and I got a ride home and I began researching this issue in on-line forums and other Honda on-line threads. What I saw was a lot of people are having this exact problem with their Honda V6 vehicles. Story after story I read of this same situation that had just happened to me. 1. long drives of 1 hour or longer 2. Highway speeds 60-80 MPH 3. Cold weather usually below 32 degrees F 4. Slowing down off the highway then making a turn 5. Accelerating after turn then the vehicle goes into \"limp\" mode shaking, check engine light blinking, and vehicle is unresponsive or very weak Some of the owners were in Canada and some in United States but they all had the same situation that I had. In the Honda Ridgeline forums they took it to their dealers and most of the dealers said it was bad gas so when I called my dealer the next morning and that is what they said I was very skeptical and told about what I had read on-line, that this was a common problem and they said there was nothing they or Honda could do about it. Questions under your General Guidelines: While the engine stopped unexpectedly, I don't believe it was an engine fault simply due to the number of miles I've driven the truck with no similar problem. While my wife and I weren't at risk since traffic was light at the time with no one behind us, I can see a safety issue in heavier traffic, especially if the engine doesn't restart as soon as it did. The truck has not been inspected by Honda.  I did file a complaint with American Honda (case #14787271) and they simply suggested a visit to my local Honda service department.  But due to the very limited occurrence of this issue, I can't see how their service department can be of any help. Every time there is no code the computer keeps, even though each time the engine light is flashing.    What I have been told is the computer thinks the engine has backfired and goes into safe mode, but Honda doesn't know why it does this.   If you turn the vehicle off and restart it, the problem goes away.  When the dealership has run a diagnosis off the computer, there are no codes the computer throws. Once parked, I turned the car off and looked up check-engine codes in the owner's manual.  The manual indicated that a cylinder misfire was detected and that I should seek dealer service.  Frustrated (the nearest Honda dealer was likely in Duluth, an hour away), I tried starting the car and was surprised to find that it started normally without any check-engine light.  After some lunch, I got back on the freeway and proceeded to drive another several hours without incident to my final destination near Virginia, MN. I quickly chalked it up to the unusually cold weather that morning, even for MN in January, and, since the issue has never repeated itself, I did not consult a dealer.  However, I've recently read of many other Ridgeline owners experiencing very similar issues and thought it would be best for me to contribute my account. This problem has been reported multiple times and yet there has been no response from Honda. I checked under the hood and didn't see anything and after approximately two minutes I restarted the truck and the light was gone and it drove fine after that. (It was 15\u00b0F with 10,250 miles at the time and not towing or hauling anything) I drove it the next day 4 hours on Highway without any issues.  Has anybody else experienced this issue on the 2021's?  There's not enough room to type the other times this problem occurred!!!  This is an unsafe vehicle to drive and can cause injury or DEATH.  The 2021 Honda Ridgeline is no longer the dependable vehicle that I was hoping to have when I purchased it NEW in June of 2021.  I live in a rural area and do not have a dealer that is close by which is why I bought a Honda in the first place because it was Supposed to be a dependable vehicle. This tool is currently not available to purchase from any Honda dealer. This tool has to be used with the front hood open and reaching down and turning a bolt & manually locking the transmission in Neutral. The location of this bolt outside the truck & under the hood is also a hazard for the vehicle rolling and not being able to easily disengage it from neutral by having to get back out of the truck again and get under the hood. It is also a hazard to have to get out of the vehicle, on a highway or busy intersection or other hazardous area. In prior models of this vehicle, there was a method to manually put the vehicle in neutral while seated in the drivers seat, minimizing the risk of injury by having to get out of the truck and pop the hood. This is a very hazardous design flaw that should be remedied by Honda immediately.
