The vehicle has consistently proven unreliable and unsafe, posing risks to my family and others. Key safety concerns include: Trunk Liftgate Malfunction: The liftgate closes on its own, even with foot control disabled, failing to stop when obstructed, causing injuries to my [XXX] son and me. Proximity Sensor Failures: The sensors randomly lock the brakes with no obstacles and fail to warn of actual hazards. Steering Wheel Adjustment Failure: The steering wheel became stuck in the highest position and couldn’t be readjusted. Gear Shifting Issues: In eSave mode, gears fail to shift above 40 mph, and at times, the vehicle won’t shift out of park without multiple restarts. Defective Environmental Controls: The heater once failed during a 20°F drive, blowing only cold air for nearly two hours. Electronic Malfunctions: Random driver profile resets, faulty tire pressure sensors, unreliable remote start, Bluetooth/auxiliary port failures, and phantom Bluetooth devices. These issues put my family in direct harm and have not been resolved despite dealer inspections. Warning lights, alerts, and system failures occur intermittently, often without prior notice. I have extensive documentation, videos, and service records confirming these ongoing issues. Given the persistent safety hazards and failed repair attempts, I believe this vehicle is fundamentally unsafe and unfit for use. One is the heating/cooling components. The car requires the heat to be set at above 75 to obtain any heat, most often it blows very cool or even cold air. It has been in the shop several times, for days at a time with no fix. Picked it up yesterday, they had it set at 77, blew cold air on the drive home, approx. 5 miles. The second and most alarming issue is the 95B recall for Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have had no vehicle for 3.5 months following the recall. Although it did not state no driving, I have felt unsafe doing so. I have had to park in my drive, less than 20 feet from my own home and others while it could take fire even while parked. 1/2/24 I had the prescribed 'fix', a computer reset with no battery replacement warranted. I am not sure exactly which component is affected, but on several occasions I have had the car essentially stop responding WHILE I"M DRIVING. While driving on the highway, the car somehow loses response, I don't know any other way to describe it. It's almost like the car switches to Neutral, but the gear indicator still says it's in Drive. Pressing the gas pedal does nothing, the car just continues to glide along, steadily slowing. On these occasions I have had to pull over to the breakdown lane, nothing in the car responds, changing the gear does nothing, I have to shut the car off to kind of reset it. After a few minutes you can turn the car back on and it runs fine. 2. The display screen for controls, radio, etc... is black. The dealership tells me this is a widespread issue and the replacement radio units are not available. This has been going on for 3 months. No back up camera, no phone connection, no control over the display, nothing. I can't see the temperature or the mode beyond the actual buttons on the dash. At one point the dealership advised that they had received a radio and after waiting all day to get it back they told me it was dead in the box and they have no ETA on another one. During the first troubleshoot for the radio, the car was returned to me stuck in Spanish or Portuguese and they have not been able to get it out of that mode. So I currently get a warning numerous times per day but I have no idea what it's warnign me about, and the odometer is stuck in kilometers. (I truly believe they were BS'ing me about even having it in the first place after all the stringing along and lying they've done.) Luckily, the fire department got it controlled before any additional property or any people were harmed, but under slightly different circumstances (middle of the night or parked in the garage) the house would have burned and my entire family could have been killed. After this incident, I read that Jeep/Stallantis issued a recall for this issue 10/1, but no timely attempt to contact owners was made. The guidance is that these vehicles should not be charged and should not be parked near buildings. Knowing this could have prevented this and any other similar fires, but I did not receive notification of the recall until 10/21 by mail. I receive emails from Jeep/Mopar weekly for useless information such as extended warrantees, so immediate notification should be simple. In fact I even made an appointment for an oil change on the same day as the fire and after a search for recalls, I was given NO information about this. Jeep is now investigating the incident, but Stellantis will not provide me additional information and this process may take months. I am now paying out of pocket for a rental car and still must pay the loan for a car that is totaled. Stellantis should be providing a car in the meantime and replacing my car (in a non hybrid model) as soon as possible, but no one has even contacted me to make sure everyone is ok. On the steering wheel are two “Auto Stick” (aka “paddles”) which when touched switch the transmission from automatic to manual. The “auto stick” controls are marked (-) minus on the left side of the steering wheel and (+) on the right side. Beneath them are the controls for the radio (or other media). These are “buttons” on the left that control the channels (up & down) for the radio. On the right side they control the volume. The safety concern is that the “auto stick” can be easily hit at the same time when attempting to use the radio controls and it will immediately shift the transmission from automatic to manual. The auto-stick control can also be inadvertently hit when using the steering wheel in a normal manner. This is dangerous. The vehicle can go into a lower gear and the engine can hit the “red” line as it becomes stuck in only one gear. The vehicle becomes difficult to control unless the driver can immediately sense the manual transmission and then hit the proper paddle a number of times to gain control. I have had to pull over to the side of the road a number of times and turn off the vehicle and wait 60 seconds for it to reset to the automatic transmission upon restart. Prior to the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland design, the “auto stick” controls could be disabled by the driver using the electronic screen and setting it to “disable” the paddles so they did not work (or conversely made to use at the drivers discretion). Now there is NO WAY to disable the auto stick controls and even a slight swipe at them changes the transmission from automatic to manual. I consider this a dangerous safety concern which can easily allow a driver to lose control without realizing it. Please contact the manufacturer Stanlantis to immediately make a modification to the transmission controls.
Jeep has defective transmissions in several 4xe models and not recalling - still selling these cars knowing transmissions are bad causing several issues for customers and major safety concern
Left rear caliper bracket broke on my 2023 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe. The car in question has a critical flaw that poses a significant danger to both the driver and pedestrians. Specifically, there is a glaring reflection cast onto the Windshield directly In front of the driver, blocking visibility of the road. This appears to be coming from the head-up display device located on the mirror, which obstructs the driver's view of the road. The glare I'm referring to. Will change several times during a day? Depending on the direction, you're going time of day or night and the external environment. It's impossible to drive the car through a tunnel lights on both sides of the roadway, it becomes very difficult to drive the car in the evening in the city environment, with light illuminating overhead on a street way. It's easier during midday but very difficult in early evening, we're early morning. This obstruction makes it nearly impossible to operate the vehicle safely and creates hazardous conditions for everyone on the road. Despite bringing this issue to the attention of multiple Jeep service stations, as well as Jeep Wave, the manufacturer's department, I have received no acknowledgment of the danger from them. They have simply stated that this is how the automobile was manufactured, particularly for the specific model, Highlander. As a result of this safety concern, I have chosen not to drive the vehicle for the past 10 months, as I refuse to put my family and others at risk. I urge you to take immediate action to address this issue before it results in tragic consequences on the highways. If this specific model of Jeep was indeed manufactured with this flaw, it has the potential to cause accidents and even fatalities.
The vehicle was leased in December 2023.
