The factory-installed tires are rated by the manufacturer for approximately 50,000 miles of tread life under normal use, so reaching the wear-out point on the rear tires alone at roughly 39% of that rated mileage is well outside expected wear for this vehicle at this mileage. This is not an isolated event: numerous other EV6 owners have independently reported the same front-to-rear wear disparity and premature rear tire wear online, across different driving styles and regions, which points to a vehicle characteristic (front/rear torque split, alignment or camber specification, or suspension geometry) rather than individual driver behavior. Uneven, accelerated rear tire wear reduces traction and increases stopping distance, and raises the risk of hydroplaning, tread separation, or blowout, particularly in wet weather, since the rear tires lose effective grip well before the front tires or before a typical maintenance interval would flag it. The wear was confirmed and documented, including tread-depth measurements at all four corners, by an independent third-party vehicle condition inspection performed at lease return. There were no dashboard warning lights or driver-facing alerts indicating the wear; it was only discovered through physical tread-depth measurement at that inspection. The tires inspection results are available upon request. This appears to reflect a design or specification issue affecting the vehicle's rear tires disproportionately, rather than a manufacturing defect isolated to one tire.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2024","productMake":"KIA","productModel":"EV6","manufacturer":"Kia America, Inc."}]},{"odiNumber":11749585,"manufacturer":"Kia America, Inc.","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"06/06/2026","dateComplaintFiled":"07/10/2026","vin":"KNDC44LA5R5","components":"ELECTRICAL SYSTEM","summary":"We purchased a certified pre-owned 2024 Kia EV6 GT on 6/5/2026. The corporate recall remedy failed. In January 2026, the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic loss of motive power while driving on a public roadway due to a total ICCU failure, which created an immediate hazard for myself and my young child who was inside the vehicle. When the primary ICCU component failed, it starved the low-voltage system, causing severe deep-discharge damage to the 12V battery. Following the warranty repair of the ICCU in February 2026, the vehicle was returned to me. However, Kia's official corporate diagnostic and repair procedures for this defect are fundamentally flawed and incomplete; they do not mandate a comprehensive load-test or automatic replacement of the 12V battery following an ICCU collapse. Because of this failure in the official repair procedures, the vehicle was returned to service with a critically compromised low-voltage system. This directly resulted in recurring battery warning messages over the subsequent months, culminating on May 29, 2026, in a secondary, total 12V battery failure that completely bricked the vehicle. The failure of the manufacturer's official safety recall remedy and the subsequent inadequacy of their post-failure service protocol left this vehicle in a chronically un-roadworthy and unsafe condition.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2024","productMake":"KIA","productModel":"EV6","manufacturer":"Kia America, Inc."}]},{"odiNumber":11740227,"manufacturer":"Kia America, Inc.","crash":true,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":1,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"05/15/2026","dateComplaintFiled":"05/26/2026","vin":"KNDC4DLC2R5","components":"AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE","summary":"The contact owned a 2024 Kia EV6 and stated that while driving at 40 MPH, an elk suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision that completely crushed the front end of the vehicle with no air bags deployed. Vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall 24V-867 / Kia campaign SC327 for the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The recall remedy was performed at an authorized Kia dealer in July 2025 (software / operational logic update). The defect was not cured. Three months after the recall remedy was performed, the vehicle suffered complete loss of electrical power and would not move. It was towed to the Kia dealer. The dealer's own diagnostic recorded code P1A9096 \u2014 the exact diagnostic code Kia's recall instructs technicians to check for \u2014 and replaced the ICCU and high-voltage fuse. This is the recall-defined failure occurring AFTER the recall remedy was applied. Approximately three months later, the vehicle again suffered total loss of power and would not start in cold weather. It was towed in. The dealer replaced only the 12-volt battery and did not address the ICCU, despite the documented prior ICCU failure on this VIN. The 12V battery failure is a known downstream symptom of ICCU failure on this platform. Approximately one month after that, the vehicle returned for charging system failure (\"vehicle charges briefly then stops\") and a \"check electrical/hybrid system\" warning that appeared while driving. Diagnosed as charging port failure. Vehicle was out of service approximately 27 consecutive days. Total cumulative days out of service across four visits: approximately 35-40. Two safety-related stranding incidents resulted from these failures. Both occurred in winter conditions in Pennsylvania. The first visit involved a software update intended to correct a 12-volt charging issue that could prevent the vehicle from charging and potentially cause ICCU failure. Shortly after that update, the 12-volt battery failed, despite being <18 months into service, completely bricking the vehicle and leaving me stranded waiting for a tow. The dealership cannot provide a firm timeline for repairs; parts availability could mean anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months without the vehicle. This pattern of failures raises serious concerns about the reliability and safety of the EV6. Repeated electrical system issues create a very real risk of being stranded unexpectedly, potentially in unsafe situations such as on the side of a highway. To date, I have already lost four days of use due to service repairs, and I now face being without the vehicle for an extended and uncertain period. The vehicle became completely inoperable without warning. The 12-volt battery was fully discharged and the vehicle would not enter READY mode. The vehicle required a jump start to become operational. After being jump started, the 12-volt system did not appear to charge properly, suggesting a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which is responsible for converting high-voltage battery power to maintain the 12-volt battery. This failure created a significant safety concern because: The vehicle became completely disabled without warning. This failure occurred while driving in heavy traffic, it created a hazardous situation. The vehicle\u2019s electrical systems, including safety systems, depend on the 12-volt battery. There are known reports of ICCU failures in Kia and Hyundai electric vehicles that result in identical symptoms (sudden 12-volt battery discharge despite adequate traction battery charge). Documented travel from Dec 29\u2013Jan 4 totals ~546 miles. Charging records (49.2 kWh on Dec 30; 63 kWh on Jan 2) indicate regular use inconsistent with a 131-mile vehicle. This is not a failure or malfunction of the system as it is working as intended nor are there any warning messages or alerts to signify a defect. The way Kia's system works is that regenerative braking is always on (like all EVs), but at a level you set from 1-4, with 4 being the most aggressive. I leave it on level 4(i-pedal) because I prefer one-pedal driving which I find to be more comfortable and safer. When the car is parked, or at a complete stop, if I put the car into reverse then the regenerative braking level is forced down to level 3. This creates a novel situation where regenerative braking is holding the parked car in place, but also the car won't move until the acceleration pedal is pressed. So I need to tap the accelerator then quickly move my foot to the brake pedal to stop the car which takes a couple of seconds. This causes the car to lurch backwards quickly until my foot reaches the brake pedal because Level 3 is not aggressive enough to bring the car to a complete stop in a short distance. Once I have held down the brakde pedal I can use that to slowly reverse more safely. I haven't hit anyone or anything yet, but I have had a few close calls from cars or pedestrians suddenly appearing from outside my view range at the same time I'm doing that initial reverse lurch. If someone were slower than me or have some physical hindrance that didn't allow them to move their foot quickly then it would be more likely the car may accidentally reverse into a person or car before the driver could respond. Being that regenerative braking is still engaged while reversing it should be a simple software change to allow for level 4 to be enabled thus eliminating the initial reverse lurch issue.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2024","productMake":"KIA","productModel":"EV6","manufacturer":"Kia America, Inc."}]},{"odiNumber":11656389,"manufacturer":"Kia America, Inc.","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":1,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"04/03/2025","dateComplaintFiled":"04/23/2025","vin":"KNDC34LA0R5","components":"STEERING,POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM","summary":"[XXX] about [XXX] our 2024 Kia EV6 WIND RWD AUTO VIN: [XXX] already serviced in both NHTSA Campaign #: 24V867000 and Campaign #: 24V200000 had a sudden loss of drive power and nearly all control while driving in rush hour traffic at 65MPH on [XXX] between Atwater and Livingston. Additionally, the vehicle could not be shifted into neutral or powered on. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The sudden loss of battery range left me stranded at a Shell Recharge station in Elkridge, MD, at [XXX] on[XXX]. Being stranded at this hour posed a personal safety risk, especially in an unfamiliar area, as I was unable to move the vehicle. Moreover, the malfunction could endanger drivers if such a failure occurred while driving. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The problem has not yet been reproduced or confirmed, but I previously reported symptoms of 12-volt battery issues to the dealership on November 12, 2024, one day after receiving the vehicle. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer or any other representatives. I am awaiting guidance on next steps from Kia and the dealership. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, I noticed warning signs related to the 12-volt battery on November 12, 2024, shortly after receiving the vehicle on November 11, 2024. However, no specific warning lamps or error messages appeared at the time of the failure. All side-view mirrors have such detents. The mirror assembly is held in place such that the mirrors remain aimed where the driver sets them. If the mirror experiences a significant force from, say a person walking into them, the detent releases and the mirror folds back against the car, avoiding damage. On my car and other affected cars, these detents are not present and the force of closing the car doors, wind from high-speed driving, or even a bumpy road can cause the mirrors to move from their intended position, causing the driver to misjudge the position of other vehicles, an obvious safety hazard. Posts on online forums dating back to 2022 report this issue, and by simply examining mirrors on a reasonable-sized sample of Kia Ev6s, it's obvious that this is a widespread issue. Online posters have reported that Kia dealers have denied the existence of the issue by claiming that \"it's designed to be this way.\" My own dealer also made such a claim. I was unable to find a single vehicle, Kia or otherwise, other than 8 samples of EV6s that exhibited this behavior.
