The van currently has 48,000 miles and the steering started violently pulling, almost causing a wreck on a couple of occasions. I took into the dealership and they said the wiring harness for the steering rack is bad and not under warranty. This is a manufacturer defect, looking online there are hundreds of cases just like mine, with a couple of serious wrecks. The manufacture knows that water is getting in the steering harness wiring, causing it to short out and corrode. The dealership is telling me that not only is the part not under warranty, but they don't have it and have no idea when they will get this part. I had the exact same issues with another one of my vans last year. it took six months for the repair part to come in. Before taking my truck to the dealer, there was no known coolant leak. The vehicle was in good condition and operating normally. I left the truck with the dealer specifically for the recall service. After approximately two days, the dealer called me and said they had found a coolant-system leak and that I would need to pay approximately 1,500 for repairs. I was surprised because there was no known leak when I delivered the vehicle. I immediately contacted MOPAR for assistance and asked whether the leak could be related to the recall service or whether the repair should be covered. Unfortunately, MOPAR did not resolve my concern. I declined the 1,500 repair. The dealer told me they could not guarantee there would be no leaks after the recall repair was completed. When I picked up my truck, the dealer did not tell me that the coolant leak was still present or warn me about driving the vehicle. I drove the truck home. After getting home, I opened the hood and discovered a long screwdriver left inside the engine compartment. I am not claiming that the dealer caused the coolant leak. However, I am concerned about the timing of the leak, the recall service, the 1,500 repair demand, the lack of warning at pickup, and the screwdriver left in the engine compartment. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether this coolant leak may be related to Recall 67C, the recall repair, an improper repair, or another safety defect. NOTE: I am now seeing on your website that it appears the Recall 67C repair has not been recorded as completed for my vehicle. I have uploaded a screenshot of the information shown on the website for your reference. Please review this discrepancy as part of my complaint. The seal between the two cowl sections failed, allowing rainwater to pour directly into the engine compartment. The intake manifold sits directly beneath this leak point and contains a recessed area where water can pool. After heavy rainfall, water entered the intake system and subsequently reached cylinders 2 and 4, causing the engine to hydrolock upon startup. The engine was rendered inoperable at only 29,139 miles. Detailed Description of the Incident The vehicle was parked outside an auto repair facility for a routine battery replacement. It was not driven during this period. Over the course of two heavy rain events, water entered the engine compartment through the failed seam in the two piece cowl. When the repair facility attempted to start the vehicle, the engine immediately hydrolocked. Since I saw that here I figured it was worth mentioning. I have mentioned this to the dealership that is handling the current recalls as well. The more pressing issue is the steering. It happened once before where I was backing up and the steering wheel became difficult to rotate and violently jerking back against the direction of rotation. After shutting down the van and restarting it the issue had seemingly gone away. I emailed RAM about this initial occurrence but have yet to hear back. Last night, July 26, 2026, the issue occurred again as I was attempting to back out of my driveway. As I tried to turn the steering wheel it seemed to \"fight\" me, becoming difficult to rotate and violently jerking the other way against the direction I was attempting to rotate it. I switched from reverse to drive and was able to re-park the van where it was parked prior. My safety was not compromised in any considerable manner as this occurred at low, \"driveway\" speed. It was just me in the vehicle with no one else around. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer yet nor has it been inspected by a dealer or service center. The warning lamps for the ESC and EPS came on once the problem began occurring but seemed to turn off after restarting. The problem appears to be currently intermittent in nature but, based on other accounts, the fact that this is occurring is seemingly indicative of a more serious issue in how this vehicle was manufactured. The defect causes sudden drops in steering assistance and erratic wheel-jerking under heavy electrical loads during rapid, low-speed turns while parking.A professional dealer teardown and inspection at Dutch Miller Ram confirmed that environmental rainwater from the windshield cowl completely breached the factory weatherproofing seals. Standing liquid was found pooling inside the bottom floor of the connector housing, causing severe copper oxidation (galvanic corrosion) and visible electrical arcing on a constantly energized 12V male pin inside the EPS gear cylinder. This high-current bottleneck drops voltage under load, causing the internal ECU to cut assist as a safety fail-safe.Critically, this design defect created an immediate, progressive cascading failure dating back to the very first month of ownership. Because this 12V power line remains constantly \"hot\" while parked, the pooling water established an un-metered short-circuit bridge directly to the frame ground. This forced an aggressive parasitic electrical drain that repeatedly flattened the battery after sitting for short two-week intervals throughout its lifespan, destroying the original factory battery. The dealer's safety protocol requires a complete steering rack replacement. However, because Ram recognized this vulnerability, they completely superseded the part with a redesigned assembly that forces consumers to purchase new, non-faulty tie rod assemblies just to make it compatible, inflating costs to over $6,000. This data directly supports the active NHTSA investigation into 2022-2023 ProMaster steering modules. In March 2023 one of my employees was driving the vehicle and there was an electrical issue which caused the breaks to not respond, and we rear ended a car which then hit the car in front of them. We were only going around 10-20 MPH as we were coming to a red light and could not stop. We requested an investigation into the source of the issue as it should not be out fault that a brand new car's breaks failed. Chrysler corporate sent someone to look at the van. They concluded that after market LEDs were installed in the back of the van improperly, and it caused a short in the electrical system which caused the breaks to fail. Chrysler Corporate said it was not their issue and closed the case. After looking at pictures from before we ever even looked at the van I saw that the LEDs were already there. The dealership admitted in email that the LEDs were in the van before we even took it off the lot. I told my insurance company this, but they did not pursue it leaving the liability on us. My insurance then dropped us as a customer. The dealership stated in email they fixed the LED lights and everything works once again. We take the van and begin using it again. Fast forward to March 2024, a different worker is driving the same van and they are again coming to a red light. The breaks fail once again. This time the breaks were going to the ground and not slowing the van down at all. My worker hits another car and then turns off and hits a fence so he does not hit anyone else in the road. This time I send my van to my local certified Chrysler dealership to have it sit there as I will initiate an inspection once again. After another month or so they finally inspect it around April 20th. This time after the inspection finishes, but does not give me a reason just meta data. I strongly believe Stellantis should be covering all of this for us, as they are the ones responsible for the complete lack of parts availability for critical safety parts such as emergency brakes and considering how close the problem was to the warranty expiration.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2022","productMake":"RAM","productModel":"PROMASTER","manufacturer":"Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)"}]},{"odiNumber":11527739,"manufacturer":"Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"06/15/2023","dateComplaintFiled":"06/19/2023","vin":"3C6MRVJG0NE","components":"ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER","summary":"Lemon Law Initiated, Chrysler/Mopar Case #[XXX] Support requested for refund of Ram Promaster fleet purchase from Johnson Auto Plaza via [XXX] Johnson Auto Plaza (originating dealer) 112410 East 136th Brighton, Colorado 80601 [XXX] 06/15/2023 Paonia, Colorado RAM would not turn off--keyless malfunction apparently Roamly RV Insurance did not respond to Roadside Assistant I did not know at the time that I could have/should have contacted Mopar RAM continues to run so our best option at the time was to drive toward the closest Ram Dealer in Montrose, Colorado---30.99 miles away Flower Motor Company 2580 North Townsend Avenue Montrose, Colorado 81401 Unfortunately, the Fuel ran low via dashboard alert--RAM would not turn off after repeated attempts, so against our better judgement, we added fuel with the SAFETY ISSUE (!!!) of adding fuel to an running vehicle. According to the user manual, what is supposed to happen, is that the TSA warning message displayed on the dash says \"new speed limit detected\" and SUGGESTS that the driver can accept the detected speed limit as the new ACC maximum speed by pressing the RES resume button on the the steering wheel. If the driver does not respond, the ACC max speed stays as set. This is seriously dangerous! imagine going 65 MPH in heavy traffic and suddenly, unexpectedly the brakes are applied so violently that the vehicle skids and swerves out of its lane. This has happened multiple times to me. I believe this is caused by 2 problems: 1 The TSA wrongly detects a significantly lower speed limit sign. I don't know for sure but I guess it might \"see\" a sign on an exit ramp or parallel service road. 2 The vehicle automatically sets the new TSA speed as the ACC top speed and automatically applies the bakes instead of allowing the driver the option of setting the new speed limit by pressing the RES button. I have spent the last week trying to report this to the RAM dealer and Customer Care but they don't seem to be very responsive. They say I should schedule and pay for a diagnostic session but they have no openings until mid-January. Even if I took it in, I doubt the diagnostics would show anything because this is most likely a software issue. It would also be difficult to duplicate on local roads. I do know another person who has reported this same problem on YouTube and is able to recreate it as detecting a speed limit sign on a parallel service road.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2022","productMake":"RAM","productModel":"PROMASTER","manufacturer":"Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)"}]},{"odiNumber":11494323,"manufacturer":"Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"08/23/2022","dateComplaintFiled":"11/20/2022","vin":"3C6MRVUGXNE","components":"AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE","summary":"1. The vehicle erroneously picks up a lower speed limit of 45 mph (could be for feeder road, highway exit speed, or old construction sign, etc...). Here is its URL. https://youtu.be/hpA-Dw_-ihY This is my second time reporting this issue. My first report was comprised of just text. I was told that a video would be more helpful. The issue follows: Periodically when I have been using Adaptive Cruise Control the van will automatically, harshly apply the brakes in the middle of the highway. It took me a while to figure out what was happening. It has to do with Traffic Sign Assist which is enabled by default. When the van detects a speed limit sign that is at a speed limit slower than what I am traveling, a message appears on the dash that says \"New Speed Limit Detected. Press \"Res\" to Reject\" This is the opposite of the way the owners manual says Traffic Sign Assist should work. The owner's manual says when a new speed limit is detect the user will be given the OPTION to accept the new speed. The manual says, if the user does not accept the new speed the vehicle will continue as it was. It will not apply the brakes. The consequence of the way it is implemented in my van is that if you do not see the message (because your eyes on the road) the van will AUTOMATICALLY apply the brakes. I have had it happen when traveling 65 mph and encountered a 25 mph speed limit sign at an exit. It only occurs with white speed limit signs. A 45 MPH speed limit sign appears on a service road at time :16. Just as the speed limit passes out of my FOV the message appears on the dash and the brakes are applied when I do not press \"Res\" to reject the new speed limit sign. Each of the times it happened in this video, first when it encountered a 45 mph sign and later when it detected a 55 mph, I was not expecting it. I attached a screenshot of the owners manual page describing how it should be working. I have experience several instances of the van automatically slamming on the brakes when traveling down the highway when the van recognizes a 25 mph speed limit sign for an off ramp. I have not been the only one. There are other posts about similar situations on the Ram Promaster Facebook page. I have a 2023 Solis 59PX that is built on the (new) 2022 Ram 3500 chassis. My Promaster happened to come with adaptive cruise control. This post is regarding the implementation of the intelligent speed assist feature which can automatically adjust the max speed of the van based on traffic signs it recognizes. The manual says that \"the message in the instrument cluster display will indicate the new detected speed limit by suggesting the driver to press \"RES\" to accept it.\" Where the manual says the instrument panel prompts the user to press a button to accept the suggested speed, I recall my instrument panel requiring me to press a button to dismiss the accepted speed. If I didn't see the prompt to dismiss the new speed, I recall the van automatically changing speeds. I recall mine switching speed on several occasions, automatically, without having to press anything, which resulted in some dangerous moments when traveling 65 MPH on the highway and the van detecting a 25 MPH sign for an off-ramp and slamming on the brakes. I am wondering if it is implemented backward in my van. I recall it saying \"dismiss\" where the manual says it should say \"accept\". The manual describes the system working in a way that makes more sense to me and is opposite of the way I recall mine working. In the manual it describes the system making a suggestion to change based on the sign but requires user input to actually accept it.
