The tailgate now requires excessive force to open and close throughout its entire range of motion. An independent body shop inspected the vehicle and determined that the hinge assembly requires replacement. The vehicle and failed component are available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The failure significantly affects the normal operation of the tailgate and requires excessive force to open and close. This creates a risk of injury while operating the tailgate and raises concerns regarding the continued safe operation of the tailgate assembly. The failure of a primary tailgate support component could also affect the tailgate's ability to function as intended. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The problem was inspected and confirmed by an independent body shop. The shop determined that the tailgate hinge assembly has failed and requires replacement. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected by an independent body shop. At this time, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lamps, messages, or diagnostic indicators were present. The only symptom was a progressive increase in the force required to open and close the tailgate. I started to notice the issue about a year ago. Since then, the condition gradually worsened over time to the point where when I open it and the tailgate pops out of position.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2019","productMake":"RAM","productModel":"2500","manufacturer":"Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)"}]},{"odiNumber":11738689,"manufacturer":"Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"05/15/2026","dateComplaintFiled":"05/19/2026","vin":"3C6UR5DJ0KG","components":"ELECTRICAL SYSTEM","summary":"My 2019 Ram 2500 with push\u2011button start became completely immobilized due to failure of the RF Hub Module. These symptoms have persisted for over a year and have never been resolved despite repeated service visits and escalations. The vehicle suffered multiple HPFP failures, including one that caused fuel to leak into the crankcase, resulting in approximately 19 quarts of fuel-contaminated engine oil. Despite technical service bulletins calling for specific system flushes and tests post-repair, the original dealership did not follow these protocols or provide documentation confirming that the required inspections (fuel pressure, contamination checks, EGR/DPF/DEF system functionality) were ever completed. A new dealership confirmed the presence of metal debris after the fuel filter, suggesting the system was still contaminated even after the prior recall-related flush and HPFP replacements. They also found non-functional emissions components covered under XQ1, including a failed DPF urea pump and a faulty NASA pressure sensor. These failures were not documented or addressed by the original repair facility. Despite these clear safety risks, the recall is considered \u201ccompleted,\u201d leaving us with a vehicle that is still experiencing symptoms consistent with the original recall condition. The failure to properly inspect, document, and address these defects has placed our safety at risk and caused prolonged loss of vehicle use. The dealership diagnosed it as requiring a new EGR valve and possibly a DPF filter assembly, under the VB6 emissions recall and extended warranty (XQ1). After replacing the EGR valve, the Y-78 HPFP safety recall was completed. Upon completion, the technician noted multiple fuel-related DTCs, lack of power, and metal debris at the fuel control actuator caused by a failed CP4 pump. At this time, the dealership was unaware of the XQ1 warranty, so instead of replacing the DPF filter, they force regenerated it. Upon picking up the truck, the check engine light came on (April 26, 2024). After reporting it, the dealership stated the DPF filter needed replacement, and on May 26, 2024, it was replaced under XQ1. However, after picking up the truck again, the check engine light came back on, and diagnostics revealed misfires across all six cylinders (codes P0300\u2013P0306) and abnormally high fuel pressure at the wire harness\u2014issues that weren't present before the EGR valve or HPFP recall repairs. The truck has since remained at the dealership, with multiple unsuccessful attempts to fix the issue by replacing the fuel lifter, wire harness, fuel filter, and a second Y-78 recall replacement due to \"faulty parts\" from the first attempt. The dealership charged a diagnostic fee and suggested replacing rocker arms and push rods, but this did not resolve the problem. The dealership has since recommended replacing the PCM module but then retracted the recommendation and is now requesting a new diagnostic fee to tear down the engine, remove cylinder heads, and inspect for debris, as the misfires and high fuel pressure have persisted since April 26. The safety concern is that the truck behaves as though it is starving for fuel when the engine light reappears, with stored codes showing misfires and high fuel pressure, related to Y-78.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2019","productMake":"RAM","productModel":"2500","manufacturer":"Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)"}]},{"odiNumber":11626533,"manufacturer":"Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"11/16/2024","dateComplaintFiled":"11/20/2024","vin":"3C6UR5DL2KG","components":"STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES","summary":"While driving 50 mph in traffic 2019 Ram 2500 Bighorn 6.7 Cummings Diesel lost power, steering failed and brakes failed. This is the second time this has happened, with the first time being under warranty (mileage estimated at 32000). I am well past warranty period. I disassembled the visor to find 2 frayed wires and a wire that has been severed at the point they entered the visor chamber from the guide tube (IMG_1819, IMG_1817, IMG-1821, &IMG-1820). In my opinion there is a flaw in the exit port that cause the wires rub against a relatively sharp tube edge as the visor is extended/retracked with no exit relieve, just some thin ineffective cloth tape, obiviously. FYI, the wires were pulled through the rod to better expose the damage. You can see some blackish residue on the wires of that thin cloth tape that was peeled back to view the damage (IMG_1817 & IMG_1822). While the images do not show it, the wires were routed through the channels of the visor caps as evident in curved cables in IMG_1821. My concern is that the frayed wires will cause a fire, personal shock or short circuit the vehicle while in operation, regardless of being a fused circuit. None of which has happened in my case. I pulled over and smelled smoke. Luckily, my passengers and I were able to get out of the vehicle. The vehicle was completely destroyed. I have video showing flames coming out of the passenger side engine compartment. I had previously taken my vehicle in for repair for recall W03 to have the transmission valve body replaced so the transmission wouldn't cause an engine fire. FCA had an expert inspect the vehicle and he found that \"fire progression appears to be from engine compartment thru entire vehicle terminating at rear truck bed,\" that \"possible source of ignition is hot surface of turbocharger/exhaust components. - Most likely method of ignition is transmission fluid expelled from dipstick tube,\" \"origin appears to be in the engine compartment,\" and \"possible cause appears to be transmission fluid expelled from dipstick tube onto turbocharger/exhaust components. The determination of possible cause is based on: 1. Owner/driver's description of events. 2. Transmission of dipstick is extended ~ 27.0 inch from the fill tube.\" Despite this, FCA refused to pay me for my destroyed vehicle (or the trailer that it destroyed) because: \"After the inspection of your vehicle, the information at hand would not permit us to associate the fire with a manufacturing or assembly error. We are sure you will understand fires of this nature can and do occur for a number of reasons not associated with the manufacturing process. Therefore, we must respectfully decline any assistance associated with this matter. WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN LATE 2019 AND THE FIRST EVENT WAS IN MARCH 2020, AND IT CAUSED SCRATCHES ON THE PLASTIC TOP PART OF THE TAILGATE, AS IT HIT THE TONGUE JACK OF OUR CAMPER. THE FIRST TIME, WE THOUGHT MAYBE WE HADN'T CLOSED IT HARD ENOUGH, SO WE HAVE ALWAYS MADE A POINT TO MAKE SURE IT WAS SHUT TIGHT. THE SECOND TIME WAS ON MARCH 14, 2020. THE THIRD TIME WAS JUNE 20, 2020 AND IT CAUSED DAMAGE TO OUR TAILGATE. WE WERE IN A PARKING LOT MAKING A TURN AND THE TAILGATE OPENED, HITTING THE PROPANE TANK OF OUR TOW BEHIND CAMPER. IT DENTED THE TAILGATE AND DAMAGED THE PROPANE TANK. I HAPPENED AGAIN ON JULY 18, 2020. IT OPENS ON ITS OWN, AND IT IS INTERMITTENT. I KNOW THAT IT HAPPENED ONCE WHEN WE WERE TURNING AND DRIVING UNDER 10 MPH, BECAUSE THAT IS WHEN/WHY THE BODY DAMAGE HAPPENED. IF THE VEHICLE IS SUN SOAKED ON A HOT DAY, THE A/C STRUGGLES TO COOL THE VEHICLE CABIN, EVEN AFTER 40+ MINUTE DRIVE. THE FAN STAYS ON HIGH AND NEVER GETS THE CABIN TO THE SET TEMPERATURE, OR EVEN CLOSE. ON THESE DAYS, I ROUTINELY SWEAT THROUGH MY SHIRT BEFORE THE CABIN GETS ANYWHERE CLOSE TO COOL, AND THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE ON AN 80K VEHICLE. THE A/C IN THIS VEHICLE IS MUCH WORSE THAN IN THE 2016 RAM I PREVIOUSLY HAD. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE DUAL ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL AND IS GENERALLY SET TO 62 OR 64*, WHICH IS NEVER MET. THE CENTER DRIVER'S SIDE VENT TEMP SETTLES RIGHT AT 55* WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL SETTLE ON 47*. WHY IS THERE SUCH A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VENT TEMPERATURE AND WHY DOESN'T IT GET TO THE LOW 40'S LIKE EVERY OTHER MODERN VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN IN? WITH THE POOR COOLING, THE FAN CONSTANTLY RUNS AT HIGH SPEEDS IN AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP UP WITH THE COOLING REQUIREMENT, AND IN RETURN CAUSES EXCESS DRIVER FATIGUE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE IS RUN FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME IN AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP THE CABIN COOL, CONTRIBUTING TO POORER FUEL ECONOMY, MORE WEAR AND TEAR, AND INCREASED EMISSIONS. NONE OF THESE ARE GOOD. I ROUTINELY GO OUT OF MY WAY WHEN NEEDING TO TRANSPORT YOUNG KIDS THAT ARE STILL IN CAR SEATS. IF I AM NOT ABLE TO BE COMFORTABLE IN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME, I FEEL THERE IS AN INCREASED SAFETY RISK TO THEM SINCE THEY ARE IN LARGE BULKY CAR SEATS, IN A POORLY COOLING VEHICLE CAB. PLEASE LOOK INTO THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF THIS A/C SYSTEM. IT IS BY FAR THE WORST PERFORMING A/C SYSTEM OF ANY MODERN VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN IN. THERE ARE A COUPE OF SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES THAT I BELIEVE COULD EASILY BE RESOLVED WITH A LITTLE PROGRAMMING. WITH THE FACTORY AIR SUSPENSION, IT AUTO-LEVELS. THIS MEANS YOU CAN NO LONGER USE HOW MUCH THE TRUCK SUSPENSION SQUATS TO GAUGE THE LOAD THAT THE TRUCK IS CARRYING. IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO GAUGE THE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT THE TRUCK IS CARRYING, ESPECIALLY WHEN LOADING A TRAILER (SUCH AS A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT ON THE TRAILER), SO THAT THE COMBINATION CAN BE SAFELY DRIVEN AND HANDLE WELL. THE ONLY INDICATION OF THE WEIGHT IS WHEN THE TRUCK REPORTS \"AIR SUSPENSION DISABLE DUE TO PAYLOAD\". THIS ISSUE COULD BE EASILY SOLVED WITH A LITTLE PROGRAMMING TO SHOW THE DRIVER THE PRESSURE IN THE REAR AIR BAGS ON THE UCONNECT/STEERING WHEEL DISPLAY. THE OTHER ISSUES COMES FROM WHEN THE \"AIR SUSPENSION DISABLE DUE TO PAYLOAD\" MESSAGE HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. ONCE ACTIVATED, THE ONLY WAY TO RESTORE THE AIR SUSPENSION FUNCTION IS TO DRIVE AT OR ABOVE 14MPH. THIS SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE RESET BY THE DRIVER, AND WITH THE VEHICLE STATIONARY. IF YOU TRY TO UNHOOK A TRAILER THAT HAS SET THIS MESSAGE, EVEN AFTER THE LOAD HAS BEEN REMOVED, YOU HAVE TO JACK THE TRAILER EXCESSIVELY HIGH AS THE AIR SUSPENSION DOES NOT AUTO-LEVEL AND WILL KEEP RAISING UNTIL THE AIR BAG TRAVEL MAXES OUT. ONCE DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO RESET THE SUSPENSION AND TRYING TO RE-HOOK THE TRAILER, YOU RUN OUT OF JACK BEFORE THE TRAILER SITS ON THE TRUCK BALL AT IT'S NORMAL AUTO-LEVEL RIDE HEIGHT. THIS CAUSES A NUMBER OF SAFETY ISSUES WHEN TRYING TO RE-HITCH. PLEASE LOOK INTO THESE SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE AUTO-LEVEL SUSPENSION OF THE RAM, AS I BELIEVE BOTH ARE EASILY SOLVABLE WITH NOTHING MORE THAN A SOFTWARE UPDATE.
