I ORDINARILY DO NOT DRIVE IT AS THE VEHICLE HAS A SURGING FORWARD PROBLEM.  WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOD OFF THE GAS PEDAL, THE VEHICLE SURGES FORWARD WHICH ONE CAN COMPENSATE BY QUICKLY HITTING THE BRAKE PEDAL.  MY HUSBAND HAS GOTTEN USED TO THE CAR DOING THIS SO IT DOES NOT BOTHER HIM.  ON THIS PARTICULAR DAY, I WAS DRIVING ALONG A 2-LANE ROAD ON A SOMEWHAT MAIN ROAD WITH SOME BUSINESSES ON EITHER SIDE AND I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH.  WE WERE APPROACHING A POPULAR ICE CREAM PLAZA WHEN I SAW THE VEHICLES UP AHEAD STOPPING AS ONE OF THE CARS WAS WAITING TO CROSS OVER TO THE ICE CREAM SHOP.  I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR SURGED FORWARD AT A FASTER SPEED.  I IMMEDIATELY PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND THE BRAKE DID NOTHING SO I PUSHED HARDER ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR STILL DID NOTHING AND WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN.    I FINALLY PUSHED AS HARD AS I COULD WITH NO SUCCESS.  THEN THE WHEELS LOCKED AND THE CAR SLID FORWARD AND I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME.  TOYOTA TOOK THE CAR AFTER I COMPLAINED AND EXAMINED IT AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG.  BUT WHEN WE GOT THE CAR BACK MY HUSBAND WAS DOING AN ERRAND AND APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION AND PUT HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW BUT THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR.
