Ford has recalled the 2022 Expedition which is identical to the 2021. Ford has recalled the 2021 Lincoln Navigator that is the same platform as the Expedition only aesthetically upgraded. So while parked in driveway the vehicle again had no power, I used my emergency key to get into vehicle and opened the hood to which I found the battery terminal connections were never tighten. I could take them off by hand. This told me the mechanic at the dealership didn't complete job and tighten my battery connections,   Fast forward to April 18th, it was raining, I parked vehicle, still running, went into post office  ( I was only gone for 30 seconds)and I came out to white smoke billowing out from under the hood. I opened hood the large flames shooting up. I quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher I had in the car and put 90% of the fire out, it was still burning at the fuse junction box, moments later a police officer showed up with fire extinguisher and was able to put it out. The car would not stop running, so once the fire dept. arrived they had to cut the battery terminals to shut the vehicle down.  This was also the first time I drove vehicle in the rain since my recall work was done. The fire dept. and I realized the fuse box cover was not in place. So now this same mechanic that did't tighten battery terminals was also neglectful in not replacing the fuse box cover. I believe this neglect partially if not wholly caused this fire. It is highly probable that water got into the fuse box and shortened everything out which caused the fire.  I have a document from the dealership that states they did the recall work for 22S36 - Underhood fires. But this website says this work was not performed. This has happened to all 4 doors, driver side, passenger side, rear driver and rear passenger.   We will be driving and the doors will randomly become unlatched and fly open. We have small children and they could have been killed due to this incident. It is extremely unsafe and problematic. We are unbelievably fortunate that our children have not been killed due to these incidents. It can happen at any moment and the doors will not close for several hours or days once they become unlatched. Typically when the weather warms up they will close again, which can take days. We have had friends/family allow us to use their garage to park the car so the car will warm up and we can re-close the doors, only to have them fly open again at some random time.   This is a very dangerous defect that poses a significant health and safety, especially to children and babies.    Additionally it is a liability as it can take several hours/days before the latches will close again. This requires the use of ratchet straps to hold the doors closed as the latches will not close (even if you attempt to reset the latches manually). However, having ratchet straps running from door handle to door handle to keep the doors closed poses other safety concerns.   When I reached out to the ford mechanic I was told to replace the door latches as they may be defective. I have taken the vehicle back to FORD and there response is now that the vehicle is out of warranty and the only offer was to again reset the adaptive learning module at my cost. Again this causes injuries and issues that may not be discovered until driving. In this particular incident the driver was loading the cargo area, when the door activated to close unknown to driver. At the same time the driver was leaning back and standing back up hitting his head on the door while it was closing on him. Approximately 10 to 15 minutes later after finishing loading, the driver drove away (sole occupant). After another 10 to 15 minutes later driver was feeling dizzy and un able to focus. The driver stopped the vehicle and sought medical attention. The driver was diagnosed with a minor concussion. While this had a good result, it could have easily escalated or caused a serious accident.   It is recommended that a safety advisory about the potential risks of automatic door opening/closing is released. From the time my car stalled and turned back on was about 8-9 minutes.  This car has shown problems over and over with Ford. I have had 3 new car batteries since owning this vehicle in the 3 years I've had it. I've reported all the different car issues on the NHTSA website.  I just had my oil changed a few months ago. My dealership told me that although this exact same issue is recalled on other vehicles, I would need to pay the estimated $1500 to repair my issue. This has caused me and my family a significant amount of stress because we have young children, drive carpool for elementary school and need to be able to see our surroundings dings when backing up and parking. Several times I have come close to hitting something when parking because I can\u2019t see from the camera. The NTHSB has also issued safety recalls for Ford backup cameras having this exact same issue and this is a huge safety issue for my model Ford as well. Ford knows there\u2019s a safety issue and is not taking this seriously. We intentionally paid extra for this camera to ensure adequate vision while reversing and parking, this is unacceptable on Ford\u2019s part to not escalate this issue and repair the defective camera at no cost. I desperately need help in getting Ford to fix this before a serious avoidable injury or accident occurs. This resulted in the rear end of the car being replaced???  Car still has transmission issues, with all the above mentioned issues, and now delayed acceleration in the lower gears.  Enough is enough fighting about fixing it for a year, it has been in for repairs 7 times, and over 49 days of rental cars .  The vehicle does not cause warning lights at any point with the rough shifting, lurching, or lack of acceleration.  All have been experienced at various times by the dealership. After the wiper blades moved back and forth to clear my window, they got stuck at an angle and completely obstructed my view. I went to my local dealership to temporarily correct the issue. Fast forward to July 2023, and the eagerly awaited wiper blades have finally arrived. However, installing them has revealed a new problem: the blades do not fully retract. Although the wiper motor itself functions correctly, this issue stems from a combination of programming and quality concerns. It appears that a small part within the wiper blade, which prompted the recall, has led the motor to adapt to functioning without that part. Consequently, when the new recall blades are fitted, they do not retract properly, obstructing my view.   Upon identifying the problem, the manager at my Ford Dealership promptly reported the issue to Ford, requesting coverage for the cost of a new motor to align with the recall blades. Despite their efforts, Ford has refused to take responsibility for an issue that is clearly not my fault. It is important to note that at the time of the recall, my motor was still under warranty. The following evening we noticed some drips coming from the reading light assembly on the roof between the driver and passenger seats (there is no sunroof). We contacted the facility and left messages - no return calls - we contacted the parent company NU Car Rental and did not get anyone on the phone after calling back multiple times. There was a hurricane/tropical storm approaching between 11/9 am-11/10 am and when I finally got ahold of someone during the storm shutdowns;  I then notified them of the water intrusion. They said I can return the vehicle to the security guard after the storm passes but cannot guarantee they will have a replacement car for me and to rent elsewhere if I had to. They would note the account for a refund. I was on vacation in Orlando until 11/14, therefore I had to get another rental elsewhere. The afternoon of 11/10 when my husband got into the car with my son they realized tons of water was on the front floorboards. The night before and when we returned the car we got in the SUV to drive we heard water swishing in the body of the car (this was after the storm - we didn't drive during the hurricane alerts). Upon acceleration the water swished from the front to back and could be heard on both sides of the car then deceleration the reverse; water swished from the back to front.  When we returned the car to the security guard around 5:55a he said it would be inspected by [XXX] the manager. The manager did not inspect the car until it was marked as returned at 6:20a. He stated on the notes the car was in good condition and listed incorrect mileage driven. Numerous attempts were made to get a refund due to the issues and safety concerns - failed attempts until I got an investigative reporter involved. Then my CC reversed their denial of the dispute and rtnd the money. But we discovered the car had a major accident in Canada and also had multiple recalls open. After it did this 10 times or so I put the vehicle in Nuetral and it proceeded to drive forward for 20-30 feet uphill.  After 20-30 feet of driving forward the wrench light turned on and the vehicle stopped driving forward and rolled backwards down the hill as it should have.  After this the vehicle had forward gears but no reverse gears.  Wrench light and CEL light both illuminated when driving home from gas station. After my own investigation, I have realized there is a design flaw in the gutter area where the bottom of the windshield meets the hood. When it rains or when I get a car wash, the fluid/water is channeled toward the center of the windshield and drains onto the intake manifold and other various surrounding engine parts underneath the hood. I have never seen this happen in other cars. It's a bad design that will eventually corrode the engine. Furthermore, it may be affecting some electrical components under the hood near the intake manifold. This is bad. Please look at the design on the 2021 Ford Expedition XLT. Our vehicle has had electrical/computer issues from the time of purchase. The lane keep assist did not work until the vehicle was updated or reset. The windshield wiper sensor has been replaced twice but continues to not alert me when the fluid is getting low. I am alerted of low fluid the second I am completely out of windshield washer fluid. The tpms has been a problem from time of purchase. My tire pressure display is accurate but cannot alert me when the tire pressure is low. These issues are \u201cfixed\u201d at the dealerships but begin to fail once I have my car back. The infotainment screen is also glitchy and gets stuck from time to time. I have to turn the vehicle off a few times and then I can begin navigating again without disruption.     We bought this vehicle with an intent to tow our travel trailer. Our expy is rated to tow up to 9300 lbs. Our trailer was under 7 fully loaded. We went on one trip about 2 hours away and that was our last. We sold our trailer due to how badly our vehicle towed. My husband white knuckled the steering wheel the entire drive there and back. Our vehicle felt as if it was not in control at all. I decided to tow my brothers travel trailer that was around 4,000 pounds and our vehicle failed once again at towing safely. Our vehicle was swaying and completely unstable for the brief ride we took on the tollway going 60-65 mph.  I have been dealing with Ford corporation for 8 months now. I am completely exhausted from being told to go back and forth to dealerships to get these issues addressed. Ford does not take these complaints seriously at all. I was actually told that it is not the vehicles fault for towing poorly. We must not of towed a compatible trailer! Dealerships will intentionally not document service appts or delete them to prevent you from qualifying for lemon law. However, we are told the car could catch fire even when it is not turned on so we don't want to risk having our home burn down.  Also, we are concerned of a safety issue of driving the car that it may catch fire.  We purchased this vehicle to pull a small camper and camping season is starting.  If we use this to pull our camper and the car can catch fire when not in use, we are concerned about the safety of having the car in the campground close to our camper.  Ford needs to provide a resolution to this safety issue immediately.  A customer should not feel they are at a risk of physical harm or harm to their home or camper.  This should be a top priority to find a resolution to this problem.  We should not have to park our car outside and we should not have to worry about driving the car with risk of a fire or risk of a fire in a campground by our camper.  Please request Ford prioritize this safety issue an find a resolution immediately.  We did not receive any recall letters for either of the recall issues - fire under the hood or wiper problem. We took a trip last July from Thousand Oaks, CA up through 5 national parks all of the way to Glacier National Park in Montana.  The vehicle appeared to tow normally, i never had a problem getting the vehicle to indicate the Tow Mode was active.  In January of this year (almost 6 months after the trip), my transmission made a clunking sound, and started to perform poorly.  We called the dealership immediately to have it looked at.  The dealer said i must have towed it incorrectly and therefore it won't be covered under warranty.  I had a second opinion which did not agree with Ford's assessment.  Ford had an engineer look at the transmission, and the engineer reiterated it must have been towed incorrectly.  I asked how they assessed if the vehicle could have come out of tow mode through some error and the refused to answer or provide any additional details.  They would only say that the transmission appears damaged from improper towing.  I do not disagree with them that the vehicle could have been damaged during towing, what i disagree with is the assertion it was not properly in Tow Mode.  I followed the process in the handbook, had a affirmation it was in tow mode every time before we moved the vehicle.  When teh vehicle is attached to our RV there are two option.  Park - when we are stationary for a period of time, or Tow Mode when moving.  There are no other options.  Ford said they have reported this incident already, i would like confirmation if possible to make sure.
