The recall's stated safety risk, rearview camera failure when MOST communication is lost over 20 seconds, now occurs regularly on my vehicle.  Symptoms began early 2025 and have worsened: intermittent loss of the rearview camera in reverse, infotainment reboots, and speaker popping (the warning signs listed in the Part 573 report). On [XXX] the infotainment system and backup camera were unavailable for over 50% of a long drive.  Vehicle logs show 822 MOST network signal-loss events from [XXX] to [XXX] (avg ~15/week), predominantly \"Tuner_Amplifier_Unit SUDDEN_SIGNAL_OFF\" and \"Meter SUDDEN_SIGNAL_OFF\", the exact failure mode the recall remedy was meant to correct. I can provide the log data (chart and CSV).  I reported the recurrence to the dealer on 5/31/2025; they said they could not reproduce it, and vehicle logs were cleared up to that date. I opened American Honda case #[XXX] in 10/2025 and escalated as case #[XXX] in 6/2026.  On 7/1/2026 an American Honda representative told me Honda cannot authorize service without a dealer diagnosis and that I must pay out of pocket for diagnosis of this failed recall remedy, with reimbursement only as discretionary \"goodwill.\" This appears inconsistent with 49 U.S.C. 30120, which requires recall remedies at no charge, including when the original remedy was inadequate.  Honda revised Service Bulletin 23-046 to Version 3 on 12/18/2024, after my repair, revising parts and repair information, which suggests earlier repairs were performed with superseded parts or procedures.  This is a rear-visibility (FMVSS 111) safety defect. Please record this as a failed recall remedy for 23V-431. The vehicle was purchased in August 2022 and this failure occurred approximately 3.5 years later, just 10 months outside the bumper-to-bumper warranty. When I brought the vehicle to the Honda dealer, I was informed I would be charged $100 for diagnostics even if I declined the repair, leaving me no real choice but to proceed. The total repair cost was $276 (parts $189.78, labor $70.95, misc $15.60) plus taxes. I contacted Honda Customer Relations requesting goodwill reimbursement. The issue involves water intrusion into the liftgate control system, which has resulted in corrosion and subsequent failure of the power tailgate. This malfunction presents both a safety concern and a significant reliability issue, particularly for a vehicle of this age and mileage.  What is most concerning is that this does not appear to be an isolated incident. There is a documented history of similar failures in Honda Odyssey vehicles, including prior class action litigation related to tailgate and electrical system defects. Despite this, the issue does not appear to have been adequately addressed or corrected in newer models, including the 2023 version.  My vehicle has approximately 30,500 miles and is only slightly outside of the warranty period. I was explicitly assured at the time of purchase that the vehicle was reliable and that the manufacturer would stand behind it. However, I have since been informed that this repair will not be covered, despite the apparent design flaw and known history of the issue.  A power tailgate failure is not merely an inconvenience\u2014it can pose safety risks, especially when transporting passengers, children, or cargo. A malfunctioning liftgate can fail to open or close properly, potentially causing injury or limiting access in urgent situations.  I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this matter further, as it appears to be part of a broader pattern affecting Honda Odyssey vehicles. Consumers should not be responsible for costly repairs stemming from known defects that have not been properly resolved.  Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I am happy to provide any additional documentation or details if needed. The tailgate stopped functioning entirely. Upon removing the interior rear trim panels to diagnose, I discovered the failure was caused by water intrusion into the rear body of the vehicle. Behind the interior panels I found: significant rust on interior sheet metal, green corrosion coating the power tailgate control unit, dried water stains showing pooled standing water that had evaporated over time, and clear evidence of repeated slow water exposure over an extended period \u2014 not a single incident. The vehicle has no rear windows that open and no exterior damage that would explain the water source. The symptoms and damage pattern match the class action Dubrosky v. American Honda Motor Co., [XXX] , which alleges defective polyurethane rear body seam sealant in 2018-2021 Honda Odysseys allowing water to leak into the rear driver's side panel and destroy the power tailgate control module. My 2023 exhibits identical symptoms, raising the question whether the same defect extends to later model years. SAFETY RISK: The class action documents that this defect has caused tailgates to open or close unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion, fail to latch, short-circuit, and in some cases cause fires. Items in the cargo area can fall out during driving, creating road hazards for other vehicles. My tailgate failed completely; I consider myself fortunate it failed closed rather than opening in motion. The damaged components are available for inspection. The vehicle has been inspected and photographed by Pohanka Honda of Salisbury, MD, who confirmed the damage but denied warranty coverage. No independent inspection has occurred. WARNINGS PRIOR TO FAILURE: None. No dashboard warning lamps, messages, or symptoms appeared before the tailgate stopped functioning. At first, it would black out and then the screen will come back on randomly. We took the car to Tempe Honda service center, and the technician was able to reproduce the problem, and it's covered under warranty. However, they had to order, but they didn't anticipate that it would be in back order. A couple months later, we checked on the status and found out that it was on back order and there is only one manufacturer, so it could take a few more months. We kept on calling to check on the status, and the anticipated back-fill date kept on pushing out. Finally, the screen went completed black and wouldn't come back around Aug 2025. We called Tempe Honda, and the service manager suggested us to call American Honda Motor. We did, and a case was open with American Honda Motor around 10/17/2025. American Honda Motor has been providing weekly update to us, however the update has been the same, which is that they are waiting for ETA on the release date for the part. We wrote an email back on 11/20/2025 with our concerns around safety due to this defect. They called on 11/26/2025 and suggest us to file a complaint with NHTSA. Our concerns in the email include: 1) it's the central control for a lot of the functions including navigation (which we can't update because the screen is broken, and the warranty period to do so will soon be at an end); 2) It's being used when we back up our car. With the defect screen, the back-up camera is useless. This poses potential danger as we pull out of a busy parking lot, such as at school when we drop off and pick up kids. it's very difficult to back up without the screen especially when there are large vehicles parked next to us; 3) To have customers with an essential part of the car being defective for a year is unacceptable. I purchased this Honda Odyssey van after it was modified by BraunAbility. They put in an automatic underfloor ramp, and other modifications.  When used without these modifications, there are three rows of seating. Passengers go in and out, and the passenger-side sliding door opens with an automatic button.  There is a sensor that controls that door. It is never in danger of being hit or disturbed in use by an ambulatory person.  However, when it is used with a ramp, the second row of seats is removed and replaced with a passenger-side ramp. The ramp is 30 inches wide.  The normal power wheelchair is 26 to 29 inches wide.  This leaves only 2 inches MAXIMUM on either side of the ramp for the wheelchair. It is virtually impossible to NOT hit  the sensor when going in or out by wheelchair!!   I have had this van for about two years. I use it about once every two weeks. Most times I have an assistant driving. I have only used it about 50 times TOTAL, in two years.  On [XXX], I had a doctor's appointment. I activated the automatic door and ramp. I rolled up the ramp, and parked in the passenger area. That seat has been removed for the wheelchair.  My assistant  pushed the button to activate the ramp to go back under-floor. It did so. BUT the sliding door on the passenger side did NOT close at all!  Eventually he managed to manually slide the door shut. On [XXX], while driving at 45mph, the front and left side airbags deployed suddenly without any impact or collision. There were no other vehicles involved, and no visible damage to the car was apparent. The only indication was the \"SRS Airbag Deployed\" sign on the dashboard.  Upon inspection by Honda of Leander, minor damage was found at the bottom of the vehicle. However, the insurance inspector (Brian, +1-832-418-4052) confirmed that this minor damage should not have caused the airbags to deploy. The airbags deployed without any impact, and only the side airbags were triggered, suggesting a malfunction similar to the recent recall affecting 2020-2022 Honda models [XXX] ).  Honda has issued a recall for over 750,000 vehicles due to a defect in the front passenger seat weight sensor. This malfunction could cause the airbag to deploy unintentionally, even when there is no crash, posing a significant safety risk. The recall affects various models, including the Accord, Civic, CR-V, Pilot, and Odyssey from 2020-2022, as well as several Acura models.  Given the potential safety risk this malfunction poses, I urge the NHTSA to investigate this specific incident and consider extending the recall to include 2023 Honda Odyssey models. While my family and I were fortunate to be unharmed, this issue presents a serious threat to others and has resulted in the vehicle being totaled, causing us significant financial loss.  I respectfully request appropriate action be taken. Please feel free to reach out to me if you need any further information, including photos and videos. This noise started back in January of 2023.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2023","productMake":"HONDA","productModel":"ODYSSEY","manufacturer":"Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)"}]},{"odiNumber":11615114,"manufacturer":"Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"09/15/2024","dateComplaintFiled":"09/17/2024","vin":"5FNRL6H62PB","components":"ENGINE,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE","summary":"While driving 35-40 mph, the car started acting strange, shaking and multiple alerts began appearing. Honda has a defective design in the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) of all Honda Odysseys, models 2018-2023.   2. Namely, Honda has placed the RADAR behind the large HONDA emblem on the front grille. This causes the radar to give a \"RADAR OBSTRUCTED\" warning, which disables all Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in the car (Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning).   3. The \"RADAR OBSTRUCTED\" warning cannot be reset by restarting the vehicle or disconnecting the battery, requiring recalibration of the RADAR at the cost of $800 each time since it takes several hours to do (per Dealership).  4. The official Honda Odyssey Forum online has countless complaints on the same issue without resolution by Honda.   5. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers since this defect impacts the vehicle's advanced safety features for which buyers incur additional expenses, endangering the lives of passengers.  6. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers by designing a system that requires continuous and substantial expenditures without resolution because it is an engineering problem, i.e., the placement of the radar behind the large, thick plastic H emblem obstructs the radar.  7. Since April of the following year, I have repeatedly experienced heightened noise and vibration originating from the rear wheels. Despite numerous visits to the Honda 385 dealership and their assurance that they have documented and forwarded the concerns to Honda representatives for review, resolution has remained elusive.  Regrettably, after an extended period of waiting, I was informed on February 26th, 2024, that the issue has been declined. This decision is profoundly troubling, particularly considering the potential safety implications.  It is evident that a new car exhibiting such significant damage to the wheels, accompanied by pronounced noise and vibration, poses a serious safety hazard, especially during highway driving conditions. The persistent nature of these issues underscores the urgency of addressing them promptly and comprehensively.  As a conscientious consumer, I cannot in good faith continue to operate a vehicle that may compromise the safety of myself, passengers, and other road users. I implore Honda and the dealership to prioritize the resolution of this matter with the utmost urgency, ensuring that the vehicle is restored to a safe and reliable condition. I was driving the vehicle on road in my community, I came to a STOP sign and stopped, then I was about to turn right but found it was kind of difficult to turn, at same time I heard the sound of crack coming from underneath the steering wheel. I felt that I almost lost control of the vehicle if I did stop at STOP sign, anyway I was able to turn the vehicle as the speed was low and continued to drive slowly. Shortly, several warning icons lighted up on dashboard, including \"Auto Engine Idle Stop System Problem\", \"Lane Keeping Assist Problem\", \"Adaptive Cruise Control Problem\", \"Charging System Problem\". After that, I drove the vehicle to dealer as soon as I can and dropped the vehicle for diagnosis and repair. It has been 6 days since the vehicle was dropped at dealer and has not been repaired, I got email from service manager saying that the gauge control module was fault.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2023","productMake":"HONDA","productModel":"ODYSSEY","manufacturer":"Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)"}]},{"odiNumber":11517656,"manufacturer":"Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)","crash":true,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":1,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"04/10/2023","dateComplaintFiled":"04/18/2023","vin":"5FNRL6H98PB","components":"SERVICE BRAKES","summary":"I left my home to go to the house of prayer for prayers and when I came to the stop sign to turn right, my vehicle didn't stop and continued forward which led to crossing the street and over the curb and through the grass of almost fifty feet into the lake. I am not sure what happened, and I want to report so that if there is any manufacture fault that needs to be addressed to manufacturer then I need to report this incident. I have reported this to the First Texas Honda service department, took a test drive with their technician, and reproduced the issue, in a small test managed to increase 10 miles above the set cruise limit.  Honday service advisor later contacted me and told me that they had tested several other same-model cars, and all of them have the same behavior therefore there is no recall any error for them to fix, just use the break to reduce the speed that actually disable the cruise control","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2023","productMake":"HONDA","productModel":"ODYSSEY","manufacturer":"Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)"}]},{"odiNumber":11507355,"manufacturer":"Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":0,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"02/15/2023","dateComplaintFiled":"02/15/2023","vin":"5FNRL6H70PB","components":"STEERING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES","summary":"I always do a full undercarriage inspection of new vehicles we purchase,  even though I am in my 60's. When inspecting this new Odyssey there was unusual amounts of rusting throughout both front wheel hubs. This also was a problem on our 2014 Honda Cr-V we also purchased new. They require a coating on them for brake and steering systems safety. When this rust spreads to brake and steering mechanisms mounted to these hubs....big issues.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2023","productMake":"HONDA","productModel":"ODYSSEY","manufacturer":"Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)"}]},{"odiNumber":11505109,"manufacturer":"Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)","crash":false,"fire":false,"numberOfInjuries":1,"numberOfDeaths":0,"dateOfIncident":"01/15/2023","dateComplaintFiled":"02/02/2023","vin":"5FNRL6H70PB","components":"UNKNOWN OR OTHER","summary":"My hand got burned getting a kids toy under the van. We went on (joined) various Odyssey forums and apparently this is a known defect that Honda Corporation is denying (and can't fix). Som think it is a wrong battery in the vehicle issue or defective vehicle charger issue. Others have found a temporary workaround by opening the hood to reset it. Honda is ripping off customers for an AIS system that is defective. My daughter mashed the button to close the power sliding door on the right side of the van but did not notice that the dogs tail was wagging near the door entrance.  All of a sudden I heard loud screaming and I opened the door on the right side.  She was bleeding and in tears and said that the power door had closed on our dog's tail.  I am a physician so I provided first aid.  My concern is that when we bought the van we aksed about the power doors because we were concerned about them possibly closing on someone or something since they can be closed by multiple passengers.  The salesmen assured us that the doors would not close on anything or anyone and would reverse if they met any resistance.  Well the door completely closed all the way in this case despite the dogs tail sticking out of it.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2023","productMake":"HONDA","productModel":"ODYSSEY","manufacturer":"Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)"}]}]}
