A spot of oil appeared in my driveway. I thought it could be from a delivery truck. I started parking my car in another spot and didn\u2019t see anymore oil on the pavement. Three days later the low oil light came on. I had my car towed to a Mavis tire center they found that the oil drain plug was loose. They told me the car needed to go back to the dealership. They gave me a copy of a memo that they have sent to all of their shops reporting that NHTSA is investigating this problem with Hyundai and Kia vehicles.  The Kia dealership is not concerned about this. The documentation for this service says last visit we did not tighten the drain plug properly and another shop confirmed that. Please check oil level, drain plug, and filter to ensure proper levels/tightness and report MISC drain plug was found loose.  They observed it for two hours. They also noted that mileage coming into the shop was 61212 mileage, out of the shop was 61212. Please note they had not done previous oil change as noted in their documentation.  I have a service contract with this Kia dealership where I bought the car. I stopped going there because they recommended that three of my brakes needed to be changed on March 4, 2025. In spring of 2025 I had two different mavis shops. Tell me that my brakes did not require changing. One set had 30% wear, the other set had only 20% wear.  It is now June 25, 2026. My break still have not required being changed. Neither the dealer or Kia Corporate are helpful, this is obviously a defect as multiple online forums talk about the issue consistently with this car. I had a case open with Kia to find the cause so I can stop fixing the system, but they were unsuccessful in doing so. I just want it to be fixed so I can stop wasting time and money, I bought a brand new car for the first time ever to avoid worrying about repairs for a while. This failure put our safety at risk by leaving us without the primary restraint protection designed to prevent head, chest, and upper body injuries in a high-speed frontal collision. Another salesman made a comment that it could have been some kind of combustion or that something fell on top of the sunroof (like a meteorite fell from the sky while driving?).  Now, the following morning, Kia (a man named Walt) is claiming something hit the sunroof, \"pictures don't lie\", and they will not do any work on the car until my insurance company is contacted and an appraiser comes to look at the damage.  We also took pictures and do not see that an impact occurred. I also paid extra when I purchased my brand new KIA for the extra warranty for extra coverage but the service advisor was extremely condescending and stated that this had to be due to an impact because tempered glass does not shatter this way. This happened during extreme heat index and I did have my air conditioner on. Thank goodness my screen nor sunroof was open at this time. My insurance covered the repair, this is not about money. I just want to prevent this from happening to others and possibly causing an injury. I have noticed that the reports have simply been dismissed stating that since the vehicles had either dents, or chip in windshield. There are no dings, scratches, no damage whatsoever to my vehicle.  I also saw some of the reports stated there was not enough glass to test in order to explain this happening.  I had the repair shop keep my glass and I have a pretty good chunk for inspection. I was able to make to my next complete stop in a left turning lane to cross a two lane busy highway that is coming downhill towards me at an intersection that does not have a traffic signal. However the car was stuck in gear 5. I was the first car in line. At this point I put other cars in danger as they swerved back into the high way to get around me into the intersection to make that left turn across busy highway. I turned the car completely off and after a minute turned it back on. I put in drive, waited until I couldn't see any cars coming down the hill and I pressed the gas pedal to test. It jerked forward and I managed to get across the highway as it shifted into the second gear it jerked violently and made a loud popping noise and there after every single gear change was loud and jerky. Thank God I did not lose the ability to accelerate in that left turn because those cars are coming at 70+ miles per hour Down that hill or my family would have been t-boned on their passenger side. I am also lucky that I was able to get off the nearest exit when they problem originally happened as I was going downhill on the interstate and the next exit was very close so my momentum got me there. The car has barely 1700 miles on it, and in mint condition.  My husband and I were at a stoplight turning left when all of a sudden we heard a loud explosion, almost like a shotgun. It was so loud my husband and I could physically feel the loud gun shot, and truly scared us to the point where we thought it might have been a drive-by shooting.  We didn\u2019t notice any damage at first until we pulled over and saw the start of the panoramic sunroof (near the front windshield) shattered completely.  There currently is no recall on this issue despite the hundreds of reports. When I turned the A/C on, very warm air was blowing from the vents even though A/C button was on and temperature was set to low meaning cold air.  The air rapidly became burning hot to the point it would burn your hands when placed by the vents to test the air.  I had to shut it off.  Opening the windows did not help, the weather was in the 90\u2019s, and summer had arrived!!  It was like driving in a sauna trying to breath.        I took it to the dealer, problem reproduced.   Service contacted Kia engineers; they suggested replacing the AC HOSE-DISCHARGE.  The part was extremely difficult to find but he was able to locate the only one available in the U.S.  The part took a week to arrive and the install was done.  Service called to tell me he discovered the original part that came with the vehicle (HOSE) had a leak at the top by the crimp and the replacement hose has a leak at the bottom by the crimp!   A/C still does not work, only for burning hot air.      Okay so now we have to order another HOSE and try again.  THERE ARE NO HOSES AVAILBALE ANYWHERE IN THE US!!!  THEY ARE ON BACKORDER FOR 4 TO 6 WEEKS OR MORE.  Apparently I may not be the only one with this A/C problem and KIA might be trying to figure out how to resolve it with either a service announcement or a recall.  The problem seems to be in the manufacturing of the hoses if brand new vehicles are shipped to the dealers this way.
