The piece was not recovered due to the danger of stopping on freeway. This posed an immediate safety threat to us and other drivers. When I contacted Mercedes (both local dealer and MBUSA) I was told they would not honor the recall since it is still in pending not open. Nowhere is a time frame listed on recall and I did confirm with local MB they have the parts needed to replace this piece. MB only option was we have to pay for the repair (apprx $1500-1900) and \"possibly\" receive a reimbursement. The letter specifically states free of charge to complete this recall. I was given a possible time the recall goes to open in Aug or Oct, but no guaranty.
