The very next day our son was driving on I-83 near Harrisburg, PA en route to Ithaca, NY when the rear driver's-side tire completely failed. The tread separated from the sidewalls and was left on the highway somewhere. (See uploaded photos.) Fortunately, he kept control of the car, but there was something wrong with this tire. I do not expect a one-day old tire to fail so completely in this way. Maybe he hit a nail on the highway and lost some air pressure, but I would expect him to have a flat tire, not an exploded tire. We had the tire replaced at Derry Auto & Tire in Harrisburg, PA the next day.
