There was no surrounding traffic to endanger thankfully.  On inspection, the sunroof frame shows deep corrosion and  clear evidence of de-bonding over a lengthy period.  We had been hearing wind noise for quite awhile but were unaware of the exact nature and location of it. No water leaks have been noticed.  Research subsequently found the Webasto Hollandia 700 recall.
