Ignition switch in this position disables shifter, too.  Can't shift gears or get out of park without lifting hood and disconnecting shift cable from transmission.  Once you stop and shift to park, say to check a tire, your car is immobilized leaving you at the mercy of traffic, thieves, and vandals  Changing module behind switch said to cost $900, but when changed old key will not work, $200 for one new key, then Shifter needs to be replaced $850.  So ~$1950 to fix, all the fault of anti-theft system which turns out to be a thief itself to the owner; this is the 4th anti theft system I've had fail in the last 12 years, all were >$500 repairs.
