We had a vehicle right on our bumper. The truck that had trouble changing lanes bearing down on us vehicle began to gain power and then lost it again. Once there was room we got over onto open shoulder (barely in time to avoid being absolutely crushed by this truck) we pulled over. Towed to a repair shop we learned the transmission had failed around 40mph to 50mph during acceleration. It was inspected by an ASE technician. Worse, we found out from the shop this happens to many transmissions in this same vehicle.
