The last one is being repaired today at the VW dealership.  The car has about 77k miles.    I have never had any springs break on any other car, and one had 120k miles on it.  This is obviously a car defect and the part has been recalled for the golf and several other vehicles.  This is also a safety hazard; what could happen if one breaks while going 70mph down a busy highway?
