The backup video display shows the rear view of the vehicle and super imposes the direction of travel with turn based on the position of the steering wheel.  With image flipped left/right reversing the vehicle is counter intuitive and does not match the super imposed directional guidelines.  When this malfunction occurred I nearly crashed into a parked car while trying to reverse into a parking spot.  There is no indication of the malfunction.  Driver must realize the image is flipped and turn in the opposite direction.
