If it is dead, the trunk open button in the car won't work and there is no place to use a key in the trunk to open it. You have to go into the front door, crawl through the inside of the car, open the back seat, crawl through the opening and pull the trunk release handle INSIDE the trunk. Then you can either charge or replace the battery.  I am 78 and can not physically do this.  It is a real safety issue if I am stranded away from a garage or in a bad area and I am not able to get the car started with a dead battery.
