It was identified when attempting to replace the rocker panel on the passenger side and the list put a hole in the frame.  The vehicle has been well maintained but the amount of rust seems unusual for the age of the vehicle.  I know the previous owner and he took painstakingly good care of the vehicle and it has been driven very little since I purchased it a couple of years back.  The fix is to repair the frame at the cost of $3k plus or let it rust away completely.
