Smoke began coming from the hood in addition to horrendous sounds. There were no warning lights on my dashboard but I had begun to hear a high pitched, unusual sound. My safety and my passengers, as well as other drivers on the road were at risk due to traveling on a highway and the sudden inability to maintain speed. The dealer has confirmed the problem and multiple auto shops have confirmed this is a known problem with the vehicle year, make, and model. The car is low mileage (just over 63,000) and all have informed me that the mechanical failure is a manufacturing problem and of no fault of my own. The dealership has declined to provide any assistance due to being out of warranty, which is not the question at hand - the question is the manufacturing failure.
