BMW have an active recall  for EGR cooler [XXX] .  However, it only covers 2014-2017 BMW X5 xDrive35d.  I have a 2013 BMW X5 xDrive35d, which has the same N57T engine as the 2014 BMW X5 xDrive35d model.  The engine light was on.  I brought it to the BMW of Fairfax dealership to check.  They told me that it is unsafe to drive the car if the EGR Cooler is not replaced.
