The car was still running and I had the gas pedal pressed all the way to the floor but we weren\u2019t moving. I then had to reverse my car down a narrow, no guard rail mountain road, while also directing traffic coming at us and behind us to go around my vehicle. All with my 68 year old father and 62 year old stepmom passengers who were terrified; I was also but had to hold it together to get my family to safety. I finally reversed us to a switchback that had enough pavement for me to carefully turn the car around and drive down the mountain road to safety. There were no warning lights or symptoms before the failure occurred. Then while driving home on regular highway, the check engine light came on (solid, not flashing). I drove to my house and haven\u2019t driven or started car since. My car is available for inspection upon request.
