The A/C compressor is used to cool the cabin as well as the high voltage battery packs, and is considered an emissions component warranties for 7 years or 70,000 miles. Without a functioning A/C system the vehicle cannot charge or use the high voltage batteries. If the electric A/C compressor fails it could cause the high voltage battery system to overheat and risk of fire. I just had it replaced at 75,508 miles before it completely failed and there are plenty of other owners of BMW hybrid or electric vehicles experiencing the same.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2016","productMake":"BMW","productModel":"X5","manufacturer":"BMW of North America, LLC"}]}]}
