The dealership service inspection found the fan blade cracked and missing pieces and the fan was unbalanced, and recommended replacing the cooling fan assembly. Once they replaced the coolant fan motor and removed the front fascia, they found trans cooler lines leaking at the cooler joint and recommended replacing the cooler and lines. After all the parts arrived and with an oil change, the total invoice was over $3,000.    The component that failed/malfunctioned is the cooling fan assembly.  The vehicle in its damaged state was said not to cool and cause engine damage. The dealership confirmed the problem.  The dealership inspected the vehicle. There were no warning lamps, messages, or any notifications of the problem it was brought into the dealership due to the sound/vibration of the engine.    This fan issue is similar to the recall on all 2015-2017 Jeep Renegades that was issued after a lawsuit was dismissed because Fiat Chrysler (FCA US) offered to replace the cooling fans for free or reimburse Renegade customers for engine cooling fan repairs.
