The failure to install deflectors, a part that is just inside the wheel well to keep wires from touching the muffler, is an ongoing issue which is discussed in a Lincoln forum since April 2022. I have found comments relating to these missing deflectors on Fords since 2019. [XXX] The missing parts are mostly, but not all, associated with having a towing package installed. If the wire had melted all the way through then a catastrophic event might have happened.
