The engine is consuming approximately 2.5-quarts (2.3-liters) of oil in approximately 2,500 to 3,000-miles (4,000 to 4,828-kilometers). The vehicle is approximately 4-years old and less than 50,000-miles. Using the best mileage in Mitsubishi's favor and an average of 30 mpg (my car computer has my average mileage higher) the oil consumption rate is at 0.6% for the engine. Ibut the common accepted stat for passenger car oil consumption is 0.05% for new motors. Mitsubishi's motor is consuming 12-times what is considered normal for a motor.  This is a well documented problem on the internet, with repairs already required in Australia.
