We brought the car to our Chevy dealer who diagnosed the issue as a faulty steering gear and tie rod with both parts needing to be replaced. The dealer told us that the Chevy Bolts are known to be \"fragile\" when it comes to this issue and that hitting a pot hole could cause this level of damage. We could have driven over a pot hole under normal driving conditions but did not have a specific incident in mind that could have caused this. There were no warning lamps or other messaging other than the sound we could hear during turns.
