The contact shifted the gear shifter back and forth between drive(D) and reverse (R) and then shifted into park(P) before the proper gear was recognized; however, on several occasions, the vehicle intermittently failed to turn off when the \u201cShift to Park\u201d message was displayed, and the contact left the vehicle running until the vehicle shut off by itself. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the gearbox needed to be replaced; however, the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened.
