It showed gas tank empty though tank had  half tank gas. i would have been hit by a vehicle behind me. Fortunately, there were no vehicles behind me. i filled the remaining half tank , then car started again.  I believe that gas sensor was not working. I dropped the vehicle for service to the mercedes benz dealerwith full tank of gas. It was showing empty gas tank and i can drive zero miles. Dealer told me after 3 days that gas tank needs to be replaced. My concern is that , manufacturer might have made a defective gas sensor or gas tank. This may lead for deaths. It may need a recall , if you have received similar complaints.   I contacted the dealer who sold the vehicle by email. I didn't get any response.
