I took the truck to Boulder Nissan in Colorado. They Diagnosed and confirmed scoring/cylinder wall damage in cylinder #7. This is apparently a known issue for the 5.6L V8 and there is a Nissan bulletin [XXX]. The Nissan bulletin recommends replacing the short block and I was quoted $21969.60, which is more the current value of the vehicle. My truck has 113k miles, all maintenance has been completed as recommend. I did file a complaint with Nissan Consumer Affairs the case #[XXX]. However, since my truck is no longer under warranty they would not pay for repairs. This issue with this process is since this failure is a known issue which would lead to complete engine failure, Why would Nissan not inspect these engines when they are at the dealer for service? I was told by the dealer they have seen this happen to vehicles with as little as 14K miles on them.
