Of course the previous owner didn't get this addressed ... nor WOULD they if the smell started later.  So ... still a fire hazard ... even the fix offered is replacing plastic parts with same plastic parts and crossing fingers.  Dealers are quoting over 16 hours ALONE for a fix pushing costs to over $3000.  And this can reoccur in the future when that plastic also fails.  Metal fittings for fuel ... seems like a better choice costing only a few dollars more.  Please do something for us chumps that bought the unfixed cars used. The easy test is fill it near full of gas, drive it, smell it.
