The wear is between the ribbon and inside wall of the container that houses the ribbon. It appears to be a designing flaw or manufacturing defect. The wear was discovered by tearing down the clockspring unit. Airbag light on the dashboard was lit in November 2023. Replaced the clockspring unit on 2/17/2024.
