(The shade was open.) We quickly closed the shade which caused a few more shards of glass to fall into the car.  The noise caused by air vibrating the sunroof shade was nearly deafening but we were two hours drive away from home and decided to continue driving praying that no one would toss a cigarette butt or anything similar out of their car where it might land on our now-exposed roof.
