Dealership acknowledged and confirmed that the rod bearings were bad. If requested could remove the rod bearings. Dealership and corporate Hyundai acknowledged the problem, but would not help cover any of the costs. The vehicle was also losing around 1 quart for every 1,000 miles which was not addressed by the dealer. This is a huge safety risk, if the bearing completely failed the vehicle would have stalled on the interstate. No check engine light is present or was present. The issues with the Veloster Turbo is well know and document from 2012-2017 regarding the failure of rod bearings prematurely.
