I had it towed to the dealership and after a couple of days, I was told the rear differential was going out as well and that it was going to cost a couple thousand dollars. After doing a little research I found out there was a recall on Jeep Cherokees in 2016-2017 for the exact same thing!I also discovered that when the TPU goes out it damages the rear differential and the transmission, so they are connected; not separate as the service manager lead me to believe.This Jeep is 2 years old and has 70,000 miles on it. The drive train is out of warranty by 10,000 miles.The car is mainly used on the highway and has never been off-road.I changed the oil regularly and took excellent care of it. It is I still consider to be a new vehicle. When the service manager tried to order the parts he was told they were not available due to issues.?I contacted customer care at Jeep Wave and they told me that since it is out of warranty they would help; but not much!I have been without a vehicle for almost two weeks now and I was told it could be months and expensive! If the transmission needs repaired it will add another $10,000.00 to the bill.
