There have already been a lot of owners complaining the same issue on VW's forum: [XXX]  There was no any incident that may cause this prior to this. It looks to be the bolts attaching the console were over-torqued.  If this happened during the drive, it posted hazard to the driver because there will be a hanging panel blocking the driver's vision. We went to the VW yearly maintenance and nothing was done to fix the issue.
