There is no emergency release from the outside of vehicle to  get to the battery.    The battery went dead I  had to crawl from the front seat.(locks were dead as battery was dead) all the way to the rear hatch to release the lever to open the hatch to get to the battery.   There were no outside mechanisms to get to the battery once the battery is dead.
