I got out of my vehicle while the driver of the other car called 911. Brookline Police & Fire came, firefighters extinguished the fire, and one of the emergency services responders had a wrecker come & take the car away. The car was towed to Watertown, then collected by Safety Insurance, which got a repair estimate of $95,000. The car was deemed a total loss and is in the possession of the insurance company. When the vehicle caught on fire, it had 3,627.4 miles on it. I did not see any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the fire.
