Upon start up in cold weather and for up to about 5 miles thereafter, the instrument panel remains black.  This eliminates any displayed driving information including warnings, speedometer, driving mode and other items such as brake regeneration, etc.  The distance traveled before the panel eventually energizes appears to be increasing.  All other vehicle functions continue to operate.  A saving grace for my car is that it displays the speed in the heads-up-display but all other information is unavailable. The dealer has determined that the instrument panel will be replaced under warranty.  They state that the book price for the panel is in excess of $9,000!
