I was on the highway going around 60mph. The vehicle then shifted from 6th gear to 1st gear. My rear tires locked up and the vehicle started to fish tail as it was screeching to a halt. I was able to shift to neutral, maintain control and pull over to the side of the highway.   I believe the transmission is the component that malfunctioned.   My saftey and the saftey of others was put at risk by the vehicle locking the tires up at highway speeds. I believe if the circumstances had been different, this malfunction could have cause serious injury or death to myself as well as other vehicles around me.   The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent inspector.   the vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representatives.   Prior warnings or messages are unknown.
