This occurs most frequently when on a two lane undivided road (with one lane traveling in each direction).   While driving on these roads, the vehicle is frequently incorrectly judging a head on collision will occur with oncoming traffic, and start the audible and visual warning system and sometimes also automatic braking.  In these instances both vehicles are well within their side of the roadway and no collision is remotely close to occurring.  However the automatic hard braking could cause a rear end collision with the vehicle behind me.
