The issue was identified at a Ford dealership and is a known issue on this engine and has been admitted by Ford/Lincoln as a problem.  The only warning was a check engine light which appeared after the problem existed and only fix is to replace the engine.  Ford/Lincoln did not make any attempts to notify owners in advance of this issue so it could be checked.
